Apparently the whole South Korean team has been relieved from the compulsory military service thing due to their bronze medal winning heroics against Japan. If this was the issue Wenger had with Park then maybe we get to see him a bit more this season. He does look like a useful player really. Like a new signing and all that.
Park has already weaseled out of military service sometime last year, much to the displeasure of his country. There was a period when he was dropped from the NT because of it. Link
The rumour going around was that this was apparent even before we offered Park a paltry 2 and a half year contract. Nothing's confirmed, it's just that the club supposedly feel resentful because of it.
Hey! It's as good an explanation as any other because Wenger's never been this harsh to any player. Even the shit ones get more than a fair chance.
