how do we know this? seems like a half-baked theory that somehow has caught on here. it didnt seem to be an issue when he was thrown into the starting 11 that season when he was our best defender.
it seems more likely to me that he just had an awful season last year, because it's not like he improved with more playing time. he was low on confidence, and it's up to wenger to get him back to the form he was in. i'm not that confident that we can rely on mertesacker next season (bad ankle injury+our medical team+slow to begin with=trouble), so we may very well need djourou to play a lot of minutes for us.
