Cruyff is an idealist who's won everything in the club game anyway. He can afford to say that because he's won the European Cup 4 times as a player and manager together. If he didn't win it a 5th time then it's disappointing but not deadly. Chelsea had never won it before and were desparate for it.
No sane gooner would give up on the European Cup if we had to play Chelsea's way, which wasn't even that bad until the semis. They were outplayed then though.
I also guess Cruyff doesn't feel sad about his country's outcome in 1974 because he didn't play Germany's way.
