Thats how i would see it and i think its foolish if we don't at least try it out.

It looks like he's on his way though so i hope we can get something decent for him in January if he won't sign. He absolutely needs to be replaced if thats the case because we'll be short on options in attack and well we need more quality up there as it is anyway.

All he has to do is run and score goals. Everything else stays the same.

Part of me can't help but think that Arsene just doesn't trust Theo upfront well, and thinks he will fail. This is one of his biggest "projects" and if he hasn't given him the chance, and given it to Gervinho instead, it says a lot about AW's reluctance to play him up front. I don't think it's because of the contract talks that he hasn't gotten the chance (the limited time on the wings definitely is). He could make the same runs off the ball as Gervinho and finish more off, but what about when he gets the ball at his feet, either facing goal or back to goal, that's where his limitations are the most obvious. Funny thing the wing forward position is probably the best one for him, with a more possession-type player on the other.

I don't think he's ever going to find enough consistency to play there - his areas of weakness are just too extreme.

That said, the same is true of Gervinho, so if we're already rolling the dice this season I don't see any harm in giving Theo a shot. He'll score a few goals, and spend a lot of time invisible and frustrating the fuck out of everyone.

Main concern, really, is that he won't be much of an 'out' ball when the defence is under pressure - he can't knock it down, hold it up, and he barely ever wins a header. That's not the be-all and end-all for a striker, but it'll give us problems from time to time.

Theo's not a player you want to get isolated anywhere on the pitch really.

Thats one of the few things i've liked about Giroud so far. Robin was/is poor in this regard imo. I thought Giroud was particularly effective against Stoke by giving us an out ball when pressed and winning throw ins and making sure the ball stayed in their half for longer.

The quicker this guy leaves the club the better. 70% of his Arsenal career has been disapointment, for a guy who has been here almost 7 years he has hardly improved year on year. He is and never will be a winner, cut him loose.

Like Flobba said, who the fuck is this guy to give us any ultimatiums?

Plus, he gives the most awful cliche ridden post match interviews ever, even by footballers standards.

He's not really dictating though, is he? It's part of the negotiation, saying what he wants. Íf it's not compatible with what we want for him then he can leave. I don't have a problem with him saying it. It's obviously still an open issue or else we would have sold him already.

Well judging by Theo's comments about his 'stressful' last week of the transfer window, the club were quite happy to get rid but couldn't get any buyers.

Theo is not in demand. Ox has taken his place in the England team too.

But I agree with your general sentiments - Theo isn't doing anything too shady here. He's free to leave and he knows it.

We'll never know but he claims he could have left for more money, so perhaps there were takers. I also think club were probably worried from a PR standpoint after VP and Song, so maybe made some sort of deal with him in the interim (maybe one of them is that he gets to play up front in the League Cup? - we'll find out tomorrow), although him not even coming in as a sub in the CL against Montpellier in the 2nd half with lots of space to exploit behind their defence was by far the most suspicious.

Theo hasn't progressed enough to have developed into a world beater but it's unfair to say that he hasn't shown a lot of improvement over the years. Wenger said earlier that they have been working on Walcott playing through the center and he will get his chance. If he scores goals and i think he will then he would have done well, irrespective of the fact that some moves will break down because of him. He scores and it's upto the defence to do its job.

I wouldnt mind if he stays or goes but he is nowhere near his prime, to make judgements because he has been here for a long time is ridiculous not everyone is a fabregas and can perform great as teenagers

Yeah he could've left for more money coz the Russians or that Chinese club might've wanted him. I doubt any serious offers were on the table considering the club were open for the sell.

Stupid to think Man City would have chosen Sinclair over Walcott had he been available as well.
