4 years ago he was 19. He shouldn't have been a first teamer but it wasn't his fault. His pace was useful then and it is useful now. He is just a much better player at this moment and has shown progression like any other player. We see ability in Chamberlain but he struggles with consistency too, he just doesn't get the abuse Theo got from some because he obviously is technically more superior than Theo was at 19.

Theo was scoring 2 important goals at Birmingham 5 seasons back at the age of 18, in a match his goals should have won us. He has always shown end product. Wenger will argue that if we see a more rounded player now, it is because he has been given time to play from the age of 17. That policy is a different debate but Theo doesn't deserve abuse for it.

I think he has worked quite hard to get where he is today. His all round game has come leaps and bounds but really whether he was useful with his attributes should not be in question.

He has improved some aspect of his game year on year, movement, finishing etc.

He'll only get better and could be the all round player is his next upgrade is his touch.

Great to sign him on again, I think/hope he'll turn into what we all expected of him at the age of 18!

Respect to him for his perseverance.

You're saying scoring goals like he was doing it regularly 5 years back. The fact is he signed in January 2006 and those 2 league goals in February 2008 were his first goals in the league.

He's been a first team regular exactly from the time he usurped Arshavin's position for the 3-1 victory against Chelsea at home in December 2010. That was probably the first time he started a big league game and he has kept that position since.

Have to say though he has been consistent for a while now and shown end product. By January he'd have been here as long as Cesc and V Persie did and the fact is even though he negotiated a very sweet deal he'd have definitely been offered a trunk load more from City, Chelsea and Liverpool that is for sure. People might laugh at this but I think City would have been a very realistic possibility given the money obviously but game time as well. He'd offer more than any wide player they play bar Silva. I am under the impression they will sell Nasri in the summer. He needs a coach who has faith in him and plays him regularly. Under the right conditions I can even see Wenger being interested. Remember unlike Cesc who went on strike and Persie who wrote that letter full well knowing his position would become untenable Nasri played that Liverpool game when a deal with City was essentially agreed. A professional who was probably the best player on the pitch that day.

Where did i say he was scoring goals regularly? We are talking about his effectiveness and usefulness and Theo even then with his pace in our very one-dimensional team was extremely effective. First goals or not, he was 18 then and despite injuries, he has racked up good numbers since then. We expect or are compelled to expect a lot from every young player in terms of consistency. It shouldn't be surprising that he is showing more consistency with age.

Remember unlike Cesc who went on strike and Persie who wrote that letter full well knowing his position would become untenable Nasri played that Liverpool game when a deal with City was essentially agreed. A professional who was probably the best player on the pitch that day.

Somewhat selective memory regarding Nasri. I liked him as a player when he was here, but he wasn't a consistent high level contributor (good, not great) and very rarely the best player on the pitch. Can't see any way Wenger is going to take him back.

Nasri wasn't and isn't even that good to forgive and take back. He will never reach the higher echelons in his career because he's a coward and mentally fragile.

he's a very good player, but he makes far too many mistakes. if there's a situation that demands a simple, obvious pass, i don't really have any confidence that walcott will make that pass. maybe i'm being harsh because there are plenty of good forwards with the same flaw, but i'm used to the awareness and intelligence of guys like bergkamp, pires, henry and ljungberg, who all linked up brilliantly with each other.

we've gotten better on the counter recently, but i still think there is a lot of room for improvement. we're nowhere near as efficient as we could be when it comes to scoring goals.

Agree with the dodgy decision-making. There are definitely some shots he shouldn't take, and times that he should be looking for the open teammate.

But, I'd rather have a guy make the mistakes Theo does than the mistakes Cazorla does. Too often, Theo goes for it himself. Too often, Cazorla does the Hleb thing, making intricate passes in the opposition penalty box. We need guys to take responsibility, and Theo not only does that, he has some excellent stats this season.

He didn't show end product until 2010 but granted since then he's been consistent in terms of goals and assists.

I didn't say he was a consistently high level contributor and nor did I say he was regularly the best player on the pitch. What I did say was that he was "probably" the best player "on that day".

Not a pussy though. I'd trust him to take a penalty in a final over a lot of the players in our current squad. He just doesn't really want to be the absolute best, that's his problem.

Anyhow, let's get back to Theo. This season he has scored/assisted a goal every 78min (Only counting league games, 11 goals, 8 assists, 1488 min), which I am pretty sure is the best goal/assist to minutes played ratio in the entire league. (van Persie scores/assists every 81min)
