That's exactly the problem, Waddy. People say "we could afford this or that player" but we really can't, because that calibre of player requires more signings just like him, which we wouldn't/couldn't supply.
Kagawa as good as he is wouldn't be a talisman
But he would be our marquee signing by a mile. A player like Podolski would enjoy that considering where he's coming from. Kagawa would probably see it as a step sideways rather than a step up, and he's probably looking for a step up.
Coming here from Dortmund is certainly a step up. Us knocking them out of the CL quite easy is all the evidence he or anybody else should need.
