He's asked about United. He replies that he's not yet able to make his mind up, but that he wants to make a proper decision.
The interviewer says "Not made your mind up? That means you've not made your mind up?" (implication - the decision is down to him).
Kagawa agrees.
The interviewer says "You spoke to Ferguson, didn't you?".
Kagawa says "Yes, pretty much".
"What did you talk about?"
Kagawa "Well, as I've not made my decision, it's a bit difficult to comment"
Interviewer "Well, yes it must be difficult, but tell us anyway! It's United. You know that Manchester United."
Kagawa "Well I've not decided where I'm going yet"
"Was Ferguson's face red?"
Kagawa "Yes, it was red"
"So, it was really that red?!"
Kagawa "You really wouldn't think he was 70 years old"
"Did he get as far as saying "I want you to come because I want to use you in
this position?"
"To an extent, we did talk about that"
"So was Ferguson thinking behind the striker?" [I think lit: below the top]
"Well, yes, that's the position I've been most active in and that's where he rated me"
Not sure about next question
Kagawa "Well, if someone with a career like that respects the way I play, it's amazing. Even just that really inspired me. Everything he said had a weight. You could really tell the depth of his experience"
"Is there anything he said you particularly remember?"
"He said this would be a big challenge for me"
"For you as a player?"
"Yes, on a wonderful stage" [sounds odd in English I know] "He wanted me to challenge myself and trust him"
""I'm waiting for you" kind of thing?"
"Yes, that sort of thing"
"This is amazing. He's a Sir you know. A Sir! Sir Alex Ferguson! To be told by him he wants you to challenge yourself is great isn't it?"
"As a player it's a great honour."
"Is your English OK?"
"No, it's no good, so I want to study. I really want to be able to speak it. My motivation is really high"
Some stuff about his impact on the Bundesliga, particularly in attracting other Japanese players to Germany and changing perceptions of Japanese players there through his impact in his first year. Comment that Kagawa moving to the Premier League might open another possibility for Japanese players.
Then suddenly, out of nowhere, the interviewer says
"There's some talk of Arsenal, isn't there?"
Kagawa "Well that, really..."
"I'm really a pain aren't I? I get that when I'm out drinking as well. But I'm interested!"
Kagawa "Isn't it about time we talked about the Euros?"
