The young player award clearly needs re-defining. I don't consider 23 to be all that young anymore when you consider the top players at this level have generally been playing at this level for 3, 4 or 5 years. I don't see how someone who was a 35 million pound transfer and been an established international for 6 years, or someone like Bale who was last years player of the year and also been playing at this level for years are in the same category as someone like Chamberlain who is 18 and broke through in a lower league last season and the Premiership this season. Not saying Ox should win it, but surely the spirit of this award is aimed at someone like him rather than Aguero isn't it? Should probably be an u20/21 award IMO.
Anyway presumably it will be Rooney and Aguero.
