That is all fair, Lagos. We all want the Premier League title or the big ears.
But a quick glance at who's winning those two trophies suggests that we are unlikely to win them with our current levels of investment in playing personnel. I'd be amazed.
In order to enter the season with real belief that we can win, we need to see an influx along the lines of Podolski, Hazard, Mvila to have the solidity to last the season.
I hate to say it, but right now it feels like 3rd is the best we could've hoped for this season.

With a bit of luck, the league is possible for the current squad but I agree if we have serious ambitions to win it. Four players or bust.
We need to be prepared to take a risk in one year, even if it means making a loss or just breaking even. We need to invest big in the types of players I've listed above. It's a step function. In order to join high table with Real, United, Barca and Citeh we just need to splash the cash like them. It's frustrating, but Everton feels exactly the same way about competing with us.
I'm confident that we'll sign 4-5 players this summer and win the league next year. You never know what City will do in the summer, but I think their reputation is still quite small and they will struggle to sign the really top players so I expect their level to remain the same.
Wenger says what we spend on is linked with how we finish.
Quite ridiculous really. If we decide to spend lesser because we finish well, it just hides our problem and prolong trophyless runs.
Or we're waiting to be sure of automatic qualification, I doubt the last six games will make a difference to how Wenger views the squad.

Think he means the other way around. Spendings are closely linked to Champions League.
I'm struggling to really think of any top class players who are available this summer, guys who have proved they can do it on the biggest stage and not just in Brazil or France.

He said recently that how we finish will determine whether we are capable of being title challengers next season. Unless we completely tail off, ending with this good run will be used as justification for little investment. But I'm not sure massive investment is needed - it just needs a few refreshments. Podolski will be our marquee signing and maybe a couple of extra faces. I don't think we can expect much more.

Given what's available once you look at the talent that hasn't already been hoovered up by Barca and Madrid, I think that City have done very well. Silva and Aguero were enormous coups. Even Kompany and Toure Yaya were excellent signings. There aren't that many players bigger than Silva and Aguero. This summer, it will probably only be Neymar and Hazard at that level who are available.
Goodness, I wish we could raid one of those two. As much as I hate Hazard's guts, 1st in assists and 2nd in goals in your Ligue 1 is not shabby.
If Moruinho goes to City I reckon they will get Ronaldo.

Silva and Aguero are small change in my humble opinion.

Actually you might be right. Hopefully
