project fi, it's a prepaid service that uses a combination of sprint and t-mobile LTE and wifi. it's only available on the nexus 6 because the radio in it works with every LTE carrier in the U.S and most around the world.

Touchwiz Is what makes me hesitate. Despite that, the S6 performs better than the IPhone in every review I have read.

Had my Samsung 6 for a few days now, and I really like it. A lot even. As for touchwiz, I realize it isn't a problem at all! I never used HTC sense on my previous two phones, and I won't use touchwiz on the Samsung. I have used Nova Launcher for about 4 years, and as soon as I got that to the S6 the phone behaves EXACTLY like what I am used to. I've customized the hell out of it already...
There are a few things that I realize are massive upgrades for me in my everyday use; the camera is amazing, Internet is lightning fast, hand gestures are functional and really handy, and the fingerprint login works like a charm. Punching in a pin has always been a chore, and just holding my thumb against the home button is a relief.

I made the switch from iphone to Samsung about a month ago, got an S6. Nice phone, pretty happy with it.

After having used a galaxy s2, and lg g2 last 4 years, I wonder if this smartphone business can all be classed into a big con job-at least in the US. All these phones seem to start out smooth and spiffy, but both my phones went to crap before the turn of the year into the contract. S2 due to crappy battery charge(could never get out the house without the charger), G2 with the kitkat(amazing how that update totally messed up a good phone) So either the phone doesn't last or some update makes the phones incompatible or some other issue which makes it hard to go for these phones for 2 years tie up. The contracts have ended now so I am pondering over taking a low end phone of 100-200 bucks and change them every year if needed. Lower end, so it should help the battery too?
Plus who the heck needs all those fancy features any more. Just a few basic news and medical apps, occasional google, an average camera and that's about it.

I got my Samsung s6 for €79 so I'm not complaining. On a 2 year contract so I'll get a new phone when thats up.

Yeah, dunno Doc, I've had my HTC One XL for over three years, its battery life has slowly gone to shit but the phone itself runs well, albeit sluggishly on the latest Android it can handle. Broke the screen and had it replaced at one point.

Many of the Samsung models from a few years ago seemed to have poor build quality to me.

Had the same problem with the G2 and the G3, you can improve battery life and performance immensely though if you use a custom ROM. Check XDA-developers for those, it takes some time to get into it but it's definitely worth it.

Replaced my G3 with a Note 4, tried the Note 5 for a short while but the older version is the way better phone. Might be the last real high end phone Samsung will have produced in a while, looking at the current trend they are following with the S6, Note 5 and the Edge series it seems they are following Apple's follow in producing flashy, style-over-substance glass phones.

Apple phones are very well built though, and their customer service is also miles better. Have had mostly Samsung phones over the past decade and they all degraded badly over their life.

I've heard goods things about the Oneplus series. No idea whether they last the test of time though.

Very happy with my s6. First Samsung phone I've had in a long, long while, but at the time it was hands down the best phone on the market. That Samsung finally ditched the cheap plastic for more high end materials on the exterior was also a bonus. Performance wise it is easily a better phone than IPhone 6 for instance.

My ancient 3GS is in a drawer somewhere but still works, and my 4S is still used daily and is in good condition. I guess the solution is to not drop your fucking phone.

What are people doing to break their phones? I dropped my iPhone 3 times this morning alone. It has a thin case, so there's half a millimeter between the screen and the ground if it falls face first... but still. I once drove over an iPhone 3G (no case) with the front wheel of my car on a concrete surface. It had a slight indentation on the rear cover where there had been a small stone between the phone and the ground. Y'all are actively looking to break shit.
