I think his only real issue is that he didn't have the body for it. He's 27 and has probably spent 5 years of his twenties on the sidelines. I'm amazed the lad can even walk.

He had the head. Was purely the body. So sad to see how it all panned out. I loved the boy's fire but it was clear very early on that we were unlikely to reap the benefits of his talent and desire

He had the talent but neither body nor head. Far too much in love with the English blood and thunder aspect to the game, had he been raised in France Italy or elsewhere he probably would've been a tremendous player by now.

Yeah, his head is partially what got him into trouble with his body. At least a couple of the long term injuries was from him going hard into challenges etc instead of riding them or looking for a foul like any normal player of his build would have.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Wilshere was a phenomenal talent. He absolutely ruined every pre-season opposition for like three summers running. Then he got that injury.

I don't think he really took care of himself to the level he should have either on or off the pitch.

Is it though? Monaco marched to the title with outside investment. Then the owner stopped investing and they tumble back. PSG slunk oil money everywhere and win title after title. Lyon are down in 6th now. And they've only psg to contend with, not city, Chelsea, manU money and liverpool who are almost perfectly ran after 30 years of shifting things around. We could beat all the odds but its unlikely. We are below where we should be but not that far.

If we had all that money to contend with back then we'd have f-all titles.

Leicester, United, Liverpool won titles in the last 7 years without oligarch money. And fucking Spurs almost won Champs League. We aren’t trying.

Liverpool 1 in 30 agreed.

Spurs did almost win a CL and they came second in the Prem once aswell. The rest of the time they're shit.

Both generally shit with the odd peak. Let's not pretend those peaks are the norm for them. And I've not suggested we can't have peaks just like them thier peaks are once every 3 decades i'd even go as far as to say I'd expect us to peak more often.

ManU is like Real they ahve insane amounts of cash. That puts them in tbe oil money spending category rather than our category of spending.

In the past decade, I bet we’ve spent more money that Spurs, Liverpool and Leicester. And champs finalist Spurs. We are seeing diminishing returns. There’s nothing disingenuous. We spend badly, and watch money evaporate with expiring contracts. I really hope Edu/Arteta are resetting us.

Liverpool have spent quite a bit more than us net ove r the past 5 years, even when ou take into account them winning the euro millions selling Coutinho to barca.

Arsenal spent 443m over 5 years net while Leicester spent 381m net in the same period. So they really have done great. Then winning thd league was a miracle.

Leicester's "Steven Bradbury" season and Wenger's failure to capitalise that year on the woeful form of the usual contenders made it so obvious we weren't planning to win at the executive level. It was infuriating.

I'm not sure which net spend tables you are looking at. Over both 5 and 10 years, we outspend Liverpool net.

In fact, over both 5 and 10 years, only City and United have outspent us in net transfers. We have thrown away money. There isn't much to debate here.
