I actually don't wish anything on him at all.
Not angry or bitter towards him - just hope he's moved on quickly, and that the disruption and the damage to the rest of the squad, and our pre season, is kept to a minimum.
In other words - no repeat of last season where we try desperately to hold onto players who have zero interest in staying.

It would have been healthy to retain a player with a winning mentality and experience even if just to have those qualities around. If van Persie comes out, blames his agent, and signs a new contract, it's all forgiven as far as I'm concerned.

If we ship him out that's fine only so long as we get a capable replacement and we do it now. We have a tendency to not replace important players after they leave.

Not happening. He'll tell them that's exactly what he meant.
I don't think he made up his mind early last season. But at some point in Feb-March I think it was in him. Since then it was only getting himself used to the idea (or coming up with the excuses to himself-the world - Bouchra's fav shopping destinations). Don't see him do a Rooney (but if it does, I'm not going to tell him to fuck off. I'll just think that quietly).

No but in a team sport especially, there has to be a manager/coach who makes all the decisions and takes all the blame when things go wrong, otherwise you're err Holland where everyone thinks they're running the show.

Its easy to forget how much rvps given this season, he's covered the most distance in the league (so technically making him the hardest worker), top goal scorer and 2nd behind song in assists at the club. When he contributes that much, and sees management contributing very little (relative to what they could) he's obviously going to feel exploited. He's the big cow in our farm and his nipples are starting to hurt.

Signing Podolski and Giroud by July is not "contributing very little".

Suppose it's more a result of long-term under investment and lack of ambition though.

Of course.

But it doesn't change the fact that we haven't looked like winning a proper trophy for a long time now. Problem is, every time someone like van Persie leaves, our chances of winning anything go with him. It's a vicious cycle. Got to find our way out of it and really challenge again.

haha.. You're spot on though. Its questionable whether van persie himself could reproduce his form from last season, so the squad will have a very large void to fill.

I think Podolski and Giroud together will be able to get the nearly 40 goals in all comps that Robin managed himself to be honest.

Obviously I'd much rather keep Robin, but on that front I hink we should be okay given we change the system. Zero point in sticking with a 433 anymore to be honest. Play those 2 upfront, Giroud as the battering ram and dealing with the defenders, and Podolski behind working the channels and using his long rage shots.

I think he'll be a big miss in terms of influence though, especially on the younger lads. We don't have a single world class player anymore and that is certainly meaningful.
