How long since that meeting with Wenger and still no word. He's gone.

That much is obvious.

No-one with any ambition would stay at this club.

Kin hell, thats twice this week I've agreed with you Gurgen.

End of days.

Mate, he isn't going to Juventus. I would bet my house on it.

same here, very obvious.

Van persie is going nowhere.

He'll sign after the Euros

Blimey, is that what passes for an 'exclusive' these days?

That last one...no, no he wouldn't have. If it was about the money, he would've carried on sitting on his arse next to Tomas Rosicky earning £60k odd a year - that was when he was injured and there was no Man City and no top clubs would've wanted him because he's injury prone and hadn't established himself as a goal-a-game striker. NOW he is world-class top clubs are interested in him.

Really annoys me that - "If it was about the money he would've left years ago". He wasn't this good years ago. He was constantly on the treatment table years ago picking up his £60k.

The press love us when it comes to the summer, they get to fill so much of their dead space with regurgitated crap

In the summer of 2009 van persie received offers from 4 big clubs, three of them were widely reported to be inter milan, chelsea and man city. He opted to sign for a modest 70 k a week when he had better offers. This was off the back of his 20 goal, 16 assists season and he had a year left on his contact

van Persie, 26, agreed terms on a new long-term contract in July after lengthy negotiations with the club but it is reported that Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan all showed interest in a player who has become one of the Premier League's leading strikers since his arrival from Feyenoord in 2004.

Despite the impressive career options placed in front of him, Van Persie says he could not contemplate leaving Arsenal so agreed to extend his contract with Arsene Wenger's side.

"It is good that four teams were really interested in me but I had to turn them down," Van Persie told the News of the World. "It's not as easy to leave Arsenal as you maybe think.

Van persie is not motivated by money, he's a football fanatic. You think he enjoyed sitting on the injury table picking up his wages? He hated seeing his team mates enjoy themselves in training so he flew home to holland after every injury to recover on his own, it tormented him more than any fan.
Youre wrong about rosicky too, if he was in it for the money then he would have taken the crazy offers from russia or china

or maybe he prefers living in london, one of the world's top 5 cities and where he speaks the language, rather than in shanghai or whatever god forsaken city anzhi mrnergserjvhejkvhvhdl is in.

Anzhi McLachlan. They's in Scotland.

and play for either one of the grubby clubs down there, biggs? he'd be better off in sydney mate 😉

Thats a bullshit list, why would you go to australia?

Imagine hearing that accent everywhere you went shudder

their livable to me means, if you have no balls and are scared easily, but like to enjoy yourself this is the city for you. oh and it's safe for those fuckin life killers called children. nyc shits on all.

SamDaGooner wrote:

😆 It's a strange list. I can't imagine why Calgary's there, but Zürich isn't, for example. Cost of living perhaps.

If you're wondering why people come to Australia, it's the combination of small population, high social mobility, educated population, low unemployment, lucrative job market, extremely solid public amenities, great weather, beaches, low crime rate, and a more than usually recession proof economy with 1tn of resource related investment in the pipeline.

Doesn't have much else to recommend it beyond the excellent mid-range restaurants of course. 😉 The arts culture's weak, the suburbs are pretty excruciatingly dull and our history, though it's fascinating, tends to be lost on tourists due to the lack of, you know, castles and shit.

Lot of Irish accents in Perth these days …

NYC seems past its best to me, but is undoubtedly utterly amazing.

😆

Who needs castles when you've got the Great Barrier Reef. Would happily drown there it's so beautiful.

Kiwi accent has yours beat though.

Australia's great for an extended holiday, a year tops. After that it's like, "yep, beach is still over there, it's still bloody hot innit? Hmmm...another barbq?" That's why Aussies are always trying to burn down their own country or buggering off to England, just to liven shit up.

TBH half the reason I wouldn't want to go to Australia is because of the type of Irish person who emigrates there.

Re art and culture- You're talking about the rest of Australia not Melbourne Burnsy, it's very multi cultural and you can get the best latte or pizza in the world.
All suburbs everywhere are excruciatingly dull.
Fair point about history, I grew up amongst "castles and shit" and we have to get our "fix" when we go back, but you know many people who live in very historical areas in Europe don't really know or care about it, all they want is a good job good facilities and their family and possessions safe.

Like me you mean? 😆

Fair point though, Australia is full of the refuse of the world.
It was the dumping ground for Irish rebels British convicts, Jews, peasants from Greece and Italy fleeing war ravaged Europe, and more recently refugees from Vietnam and economic migrants from China and Indian, people who nobody wanted.

Funny thing is that we're created the most stable tolerant prosperous society on Earth.

Hmm, well I just got back from Aus and I can honestly say I absolutely loved it. Good chance I'll move there in a few years, if all goes well.

Anyway, back to RVP - where do people stand now? Staying or going?

He is staying. Or going.

Everyones welcome.... except the aborigines.

Thought the Canadians were market leaders when it comes to stable, prosperous and tolerant societies?

Not too fuzzed if RVP leaves. This guy can do the bees knees. 🙂

Because you don't like poor people? 😉

I dunno, I'm assuming most are not skilled labour, because most I see are working cafés or pubs. I work with a nice bloke from Limerick now though.

The sheer scale of the recent Irish influx is impressive, in that it's actually noticeable.

Our national shame is the life expectancy gap between indigenous people and everyone else … still 17 years

Van PERSIE's mother Jose said: “Arsenal love him and that’s a great incentive to stay. Arsenal are a fantastic club.

“They have no debts and Robin is idolised there.”

Van Persie’s wife Bouchra added: “Arsenal showed faith in Robin when he was going through a lean time, so we should not repay them by thinking about other clubs.

“Our home life and our children are happy in London.”

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4343560/Robin-van-Persie-must-stay-at-Arsenal-say-his-mum-and-wife.html

That quote from Robin's wife definitely rings a bell, but she has been reported as making similar, not-quite-the-same statements in the recent past. 50% relevant.

They're recent quotes. His father, mother and wife have all advised him to stay.

I found similar, but not identical quotes from a Mirror article on 12 May.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/robin-van-persies-wife-bouchra-830189

I just don't think there's anything definitive to be had out of it.

It's not difficult to understand that his family might prefer not to disrupt their London life, all else being equal and with two young kids.

But it would also hardly be surprising if that view changed over an extra £15m pounds on the value of his next contract, which is around what City would be offering.
