To what end?
van Persie sold to Man United
Give out hints to potential suitors without approaching them directly? Don't know really, but if anyone's leaked anything, it'll have come from Robin's side.

I reckon it's just plain, made up nonsense. No leaks, just stories to sell papers and get hits.
Also very possible.
If you read beyond the sensationalist headlines all the papers are running with, essentially "they met, they talked, RVP left with nothing decided either way".
Isn't he joining up with the Dutch squad in a week? Either way, something should be decided by then. Sell, keep or sign a new contract.

You know it won't be. It'll linger on and on and on and on and on. I'd put good money on it not being decided before the season starts. This is Arsenal and this is how we do things.
I heard he was linking up with the Dutch squad today, so no more face to face talks until after the Euro's.
If he holds us over a barrel all summer and then fucks off in august I'm going to be pissed off.
I'm still farily confident he will stay, not because of what we can offer, but because of the paucity of options available to him.
He's 28 going on 29 so not a lot of sell on value. Also his injury history will count against anyone offering £20m+ for him let alone for someone in the last year of their contract.
He's club captain and has demonstrated his passion for the club on the pitch. That makes it difficult for him to make an easy switch to any of our domestic rivals. If Wenger wants to keep him for the final year at the risk of him going on a free, it means any interested parties will find it difficult to negotiate easily or quickly.
With two tournaments on this summer, there is very little time for clubs to get their transfer activity done on time. Chances are that the majority of teams will want to have the bulk of signings on board before their pre-season.
Only United, City and Chelsea can offer him the money he reportedly wants and an almost guaranteed starting berth. Real Madrid, Barca and Bayern already have some very good players in his position.
I think he's going to find it very difficult to secure the right move away from the club so his best bet would be to see out this year and move on a free. If Arsenal can match his ambitions with actual progress next season, then he may be tempted to extend, but if we fall short again, he will be able to command a higher wage as a free agent.
We weren't going to get the club to comment on this before the Euros anyway, even if van Persie nominally agrees to sign the contract it'll take a while to iron out all the details before he puts pen to paper. And if the club feel that he's about to leave, they'll presumably have time to work out an alternative. I don't think it's going to be as bad as last summer.
Him leaving is possible but improbable.

Was unsure if it was today or next Thursday. Either way - during the talks he had with Wenger he OWES us to have said what he wants. The club deserves as much. I will regard him as a dick for the rest of my life if he said nothing clear yesterday and then demands a move in August.
Outgunned? City lurk as Van Persie tells Arsenal he's sick of being potless
Van Persie held crunch talks about his future with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis on Wednesday - and made it plain that he is fed-up with not winning trophies.
What a load of garbage
I love the way they tag this onto the end of the article just to cheer us up.

I'm sorry but this trophy thing never helped us keep people in the past.
We won bucketloads back in the day but that didn't stop the likes of Overmars, Petit, Vieira, Ashley Cole and Henry from leaving.
Winning the treble the season before didn't stop Ronaldo from going to Madrid.
I just think the heart wants what the heart wants and if a player wants to leave then he'll leave regardless of the wages you offer him or the medals he has won.
Wages are usually the main reason players move. Its very rare thats not the case.
The press are going to have a field day with RvP this summer, just as they do with our players every summer. Would prefer to know as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements before pre-season.
Not much hope of anything major happening with him until after the Euros now.
We're going to be tortured though I guess it's fairly obvious when they're just making stories out of nothing.
That Mirror article being a prime example.
The stories will go quietish during the Euro's anyway I would have thought.
