Van Persie will lose any shred of athleticism he might have had very soon, especially if he's injured (which is likely). He'll offer nothing but good control and fancy finishing. He'll be a step up from Michael Owen.

Here he was a leader, there he'll be a a fancy cunt with a lot of money and George Clooney hair. Here he would have been a legend, there he'll be more famous simply because they got him from us than for anything he'll do as a player.

I've stupidly got Premier League Years 09/10 on. So far I've sat through countless Fabregas goals and just there seen United beat us 3-1 at home. Fuckin worst thing to watch tonight if all nights. I can't believe we sold him to them.

Who else were we going to sell him to? Juventus backed off ages ago, City have a wealth of strikers to choose from, and everyone else thought his wage demands were way too high. If he stayed through the remainder of his contract, I doubt he'd show up to play at a high level. So we either pay him to waste away on 70k a week for a year, or we receive what I see as really good value for money on a player with a inconsistent injury and performance history.

Apparently the BBC journalist that broke the story claims that we never even made a contract offer.

That is HIGHLY unlikely Xc. I simply cannot believe that. Unless Wenger had decided midway through last season that he didn't want RVP anymore...which would be insane to say the least.

I don't think it's likely, but I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. The writing was on the wall when Darren Dein was trying to get him above 200k per week. Awarding him a contract even close to that would make a mockery of our wage structure.

We didn't offer him a formal contract because he declared that he had no intention of signing one before the negotiations started. Robin's representatives were fully aware of how much we were ready to offer in terms of wages and how much he was being offered by United. There was no need for them to discuss anything. They published a statement in the hope that it would force our hand. Now they're trying to spread the story that we weren't really interested in keeping him anyway so he did nothing wrong here, really. We're so unambitious as a club that we couldn't even be arsed to offer a contract extension to the guy who was voted the best player in the bloody league last season. Oh yes. That makes perfect sense.

Edit: Fuck it, I'm not going to edit it out. These people do deserve cancer.

I'm with Wenger and the club on this. 22m for an injury-riddled 29 year-old who didn't want to stay and bagged the club in the process; not bad business, I say.

We definitely had terms ready behind the scenes - I'm not convinced they were sufficiently generous, but we didn't get to negotiate anyway, because he forced our hand and forced a move.

I'm sure Van Persie has mixed feelings about how this has panned out, but fuck him. He got conned willingly by his agent. Take the money and move on.

Because of this, if we finish ahead of United this season, it will, for once, be "like a trophy".

Here's a player that most of us would wish well if he decided to move to another club. Instead he's managed to go about it in the most cuntworthy way and join one of the most cunty clubs around.

Still, if he wants 225k we never had a choice in the matter and that's a lot of money even for Man Utd.

Players don't have to be loyal to the club, but Arsenal have been far too good to van Persie and, as soon as he has any kind of value, he kicks us in nuts with a smile and a wave.
