Not too bothered about this. He carried us through some really mediocre stretches last year, but people forget that he wasn't great for the last third or so of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if Joining Man Utd reinvigorates him, especially if his self-proclaimed burning desire to win trophies is true. In the medium and long term, it's hard to see RVP maintain his form. He's going to be 30 next year, and given his injury history, I'm just not sure that this transfer will represent value for money from Man United's perspective.
Like we were at the end of last transfer window, I think we're still a copule quality players short of challenging for anything. It's not the end of the world, ESPECIALLY if we stay healthy our new signings step up. We'll still finish top four, but I doubt we'll ever be in contention. At least we broke even this window!
And I agree with Tony; people gotta cut this fanboy crap out. Are people still naive enough to believe the loyalty drivel that players come out with every time the feel good factor in the dressing room is high?
