Giroud and Podoslki will be fine for the lone striker role, the issue is that if Podolski has to play a significant number of game in the middle then we need someone else out wide else we're back to Arshavin.

Also the general concensus last season was we'd finish mid table and out of the top 4 every season prior to that, so wouldn't pay too much attention.

Arsenal will be in for a tough season this year if they lose Van Persie, I think they've got it all to do and Tottenham could finish above them this year.

Losing RVP after already having bought two strikers still leaves us +1 in the striker department. Like it or not - it is unlikely we will buy another top attacker if RVP is sold.

IF we manage to shift out 1 or 2 of Bendtner, Park & Chamakh aswell.. Can definitly see us bring in another Forward.

Bendtner and Park didn't feature at all last season so they don't really count.

Podolski will likely be starting most weeks at left wing, so Giroud is the only pure striker reinforcement.

Doc, I wasn't talking about payroll. From the playing personnel we actually used last season, then neither Bendtner nor Park count. We have bought two strikers who are both able to play the same position as RVP. Any way you look at it we are still +2 in the striker department right now compared to last season. RVP leaves - we still look good numbers wise.

Agree with Rex here. Podolski and Giroud are striking additions, whether Podolski plays a bit at left wing or not.

If RVP goes we are short numbers wise. We needed a wide forward and a striker, we've got both but we are probably losing RVP. Leaves us one down from where we need to be.

Rumours that RVP and Wenger are no longer on speaking terms and that they blame eachother for how the situation has developed.

Where are those rumours, Tim? I think I believe that actually.

Cazorla is an option out wide as well though, isn't he? I think he'll play almost exclusively central myself, but lots of others say he'll play just as much, if not more, out wide. Which does make sense when you consider our interest in Sahin.

It does depends were you see Poldolski i guess, I actually probably prefer him as a striker but he will get games on the wings. Anyway, the reason i would want a someone like Jovetic (and said forward) is that he looks quite versatile.

The only players I would consider for our front six atm are Theo, Ox, Poldi, Giroud & Gerv thats a man short for me.

Dont forget we also played Ben, Chamakh & Arshavin for a number of games last season. All 3 I hope will not play for us again

Dam, we still got a lot of dead wood to get rid of :s

I think we'll sign Mirallas if we sell Robin. He's said today that we've been in contact about a move. That would see us covered numbers wise in basically every position. Only issues would then be the quality of back ups in the full back positions and maybe central midfield.

Exactly.
It'd be crazy to view this strictly in terms of the number of forwards that we have available once Van Persie is sold.
Chamakh and Park might be physically here, but in relation to their usefulness to us neither can be counted.
Certainly not Chamakh, and probably not Park seeing as he is never played.

As for the rumours of Wenger and van Persie not speaking - who knows. It would not surprise me, both of them look to have aged ten years in the last few weeks.
To hell with Van Persie though, he can't expect that we're just going to let him go for a pittance to United.
Not our fault that nobody else will bid for him.
He'd want to think about that when he's assuming that he's too good for this club.

Problem is though Ricky is instead of having a weaker player in one position you weaken 3.

For example, Giroud is injured.

Option 1 would be to replace with replacement signing and has a low impact on the squad. Option 2 would be to move Podolski to middle and move Carzola to the wing, weaking each of those respective positions and changing up the side significantly.

Hopefully it's just paper-talk. I will be very disappointed in the club if we sell our best player to Man Utd or Man City. All the positive vibes of Arsenal showing ambition and looking to challenging will be crushed if we're going to strengthen our rivals. I suppose we could use that £22m to strengthen ourselves - and could even benefit overall if we're able to improve a lot in another position we're weaker in. But I don't trust the club to make that happen even after the recent good signings.

With the quality we've added to our midfield in Cazorla, coupled with the return of Jack and the inevitable progress of chambo, we'll certainly create more this season, so I very much doubt we'll be so dependent on a striker pulling out wonder performances week in week out this season.

Don't panic y'all.
