There is no bidding war though.
By all accounts Van Persie has told both City and Juve he's not interested.
United are the only team in pursuit, meaning that if we want to earn the kind of transfer fee that will buy us a top replacement this will drag on until the end of August?
That won't leave us enough time to sign someone else, and if we sign someone of Llorente standard within the next week or so that clearly tells United we're caving in.

There's a loss for us everyway we turn on this, it's a matter of estimating and assessing which loss would be the most damaging.

I doubt the United £220k/w rumour is strictly true (or the Juve £190k/w one) but anyone who doesn't think he's being offered big heap money by these interested parties compared to us is wrong.

But even that extra big heap money of another £50k/w or what have you would "only" work out to say £2-3m or 2% of our overall annual player budget.

I think if it was down to money he should just be honest and let the club know where they stand if it was about the future of the club not showing enough ambition they've proved him wrong.

He's acted very unprofessional slateing the club that stood by him in the early days (court case)and injuries it's only the last 2 seasons he has really produced the goods.From 2004 untill 2010 he scored 73 goals in 6 seasons.

People still don't understand that the players are not fans and don't care that much about our feelings. They just want to play football at the highest level possible, win trophies and earn lots of cash (in no particular order).

I think people understand it perfectly. It just ticks them off when players pose as fans to strengthen their personal brand but couldn't give two fuck about the club when it really matters.

Tony Adams , Steve bull and matt le tissier are just a few players who had loyalty to the clubs that made them and paid them after that there are very few I'm not surprised by the actions of footballers they get paid to much and just have no sense of reality.

RVP wasn't even a pro footballer then and there was no guarantee he would make it at the level he is now. There was no guarantee at the time of those photos that he would actually play for Arsenal.

The reality is that they are not fans and never were.

They are also professionals with dreams and careers and desires. For example most people love money more than their country or football team.

Fact is: this man pretended to be one of us, and even if he wasn't, if he had any personal pride, if the club ever meant anything to him, no matter how little, he wouldnt even consider ManU as an option. If he goes there I will always consider him a traitor, even moreso than Cashley.

i don't think we can sell him to a league rival and still win the title, even if we replace him with someone close in ability, obviously we can't buy someone better. and improving other positions is something we can still do if we don't sell him.

It's because of his pride that he wants to leave to win trophies. If it was just money he would have gone to City.

Love of a football club is very different from love in marriage. You know that, I know that. Its an unspoken concession, but Even your wife would know not to try to come between you and your club (or football in general).
