If he admitted it was for the money, we'd still have crucified him. He would've been disliked no matter what - but his best bet was doing a Nasri and keeping quiet. I suspect he tried that but after the club made it clear he needed to see out the final year, he made his cuntish move.

We're too used to it to be frustrated by it. Apathy is the only thing I'm feeling about this rvp situation. Just want to fast-forward to sept. 1st so we don't have to hear any more about it.

I think you are wrong there Patters. You have to, unwillingly perhaps, respect a guy who is honest about WHY he does what he is doing.

I don't think Drogba is hated by the Chelsea fans for being honest about going to the club which pays him the best. Same thing with Etoo and Inter.

Who is "The Club" there are three sides to this Patters, RvP's Gazidis & Wenger's, us fans don't matter.
RvP wants to go now.

Thing is Rex, all those players have served their clubs and fans well, having given them trophies and great memories like Henry Pires Bergkamp have for us.

I think wenger and gazidis presented a united front to say RVP must stay for his final year. I agree with RVP that maybe Wenger and Gazidis' plans for the future didn't fill him with much hope, but the threat that he would be made to see out his contract forced him to come out with a statement designed to cause trouble and force a move. That's my theory, anyway.

I don't like the way RVP has gone about this. But do any of us care enough to waste energy hating him like we have Ashley cole or adebayor? I think we're just waiting for sept. 1st and avoiding the football news. Or, at least, I am.

I don't know what I hate more: the fact we don't adequately replace players or the fact we don't do enough to hold on to them in the first place.

Seriously, it's the same fucking thing every season now and will continue to be until we eventually run out of players teams want to buy. Who the hell is top class out of this current squad? It's not as if team dynamic will make up that shortfall either as personnel turnover is getting silly these days. By the time we play Sunderland, who out of the first team will have been at the club for at least three seasons.

He really doesn't know how good he has it here playing the game he loves with absolute freedom. It doesn't matter how many mistakes or chances he misses he'll always get the backing from the Manager and fans. Didn't he learn anything from the Euros? Look at the abuse he got from his own supporters for missing a few chances and how half of the team hated his guts.

Other clubs won't be so kind to him if he gets an injury or if he goes through spells of poor form. Just look at Man Utds treatment of Berbatov or how quickly Man City got bored of Adebayor. One bad move and he could slip into obscurity and end up playing the rest of his football somewhere in Turkey or Holland in few years time, without any sort of legacy. He was within reach of Legendary status at Arsenal and could have probably ended up as the clubs 2nd all time top scorer and mabe with a little luck, a big trophy somewhere down the line. His last season has made him big headed and arrogant, thinks he can walk into any team and get the same treatment he gets here but he's in for a surprise.

Those are insulting bids at best. Robin put us in such a terrible position in terms of negotiations and i hate him for that. We should be looking for over 25mil easily, especially considering Modric is going for 30-40mil (reports...etc etc)

We still need to get as much money back in return. We can replace him just fine... that's if we already didn't.

If the reports are to believed and we are getting bids of 10-12 million i would prefer keeping him, top scorer going for as little as that would give us a reputation as an easy team to bully in the transfer market.
