Yeah, Larsson won the golden boot the season after his leg break. Not sure about Cissé though. I think that first break was respsonsible for a lot of the complications he suffered later on in his career. He was a huge prospect once but turned out a nothing player after that second or third break he suffered against China.

Usually people don't break their joints though. Eduardo and Diaby both did, unfortunately.

There is no physical reason why players should not get back to their best after a leg break. The difficulty lies in coming back after such a long period without playing any football and in the mental side of things. Ramsey is young so he'll have plenty of time to get back.

im actually not so worried about Ramsey.. straight leg breaks are not as bad.. they just need to heal, which his has done.. he just needs to get himself back into real shape...

Hmm.. yes.. that's true.. good point.. hope he manages to get back to his old level quickly.. he's still young.. only time will tell... we'll have to wait and see...

Vermaelen has had another set back in training. Knew there was truth to those rumours about him not returning this year.

This is so infuriating. This has happened far too many times to disbelieve any such rumours. I have never understood and still don't quite understand the reason to conceal the full extent of injuries to players.

it did say that his scans on the achilles are clear, but he's getting tightness if it on it for a while... seems like an odd injury

I don't think there has been any lying about his injury - he just has a complex complaint and an accurate prognosis isn't possible. Fucking terrible news really.

Just hope this is from the same twitter grapevine i read it from a few weeks back, because i don't know how credible that was. I very much doubt a paid journalist would do such a thing though...

It's the fact that they don't know the root cause of the pain that's most concerning.
Surgery may be required but can they know that it will eliminate the problem permanently?

No, not really. The thing is that the tendon usually responds the same way to surgery: it stiffens up when you try to stretch it because it has reduced tensile strength. I asked a friend who's specializing in sport injuries about this a couple of weeks ago and he said that unless it's one of those rare cases when the membrane surrounding the tendon is getting rubbed down you typically don't do surgery to remove tendinopathy. He hasn't had a proper look at Vermaelen specifically of course, but it seemed to echo the treatment he's recieved so far. I don't think the club has been trying to cover up the injury in any way. They simply don't know why it doesn't get better, and that's very worrying.

How about you restrain yourself from spending money you can't afford first, you clod?

if i were Wenger, i'd throw a 10m offer to Bolton in January and see if we cant tempt them to negotiate.. especially if TV is going to be out for a while.. (we dont know if he will or not, but its a possibility).. id like one more good CB in TV's absence

I have already accepted that we won't see him this season to be honest. Our luck is really unbelievable.
