What the fuck?
He also said only yesterday, maybe even today, that it was "2 to 3 weeks" - and definitely said in the AGM that they are trying a new approach to treating the injury that should "kill" the problem.
The ITKs are talking bullshit, methinks.
I hope you're right Ricky. It really wouldn't surprise me if we don't see him before Christmas though. Achilles injuries can turn ugly.
It's 2 to 3 weeks and mid-November is his return date according to Wenger.
Hope he returns soon as it will take some time to trust any defensive pairing without him. That said Squillaci and Djourou are good options to fall back on when we have our first choice defenders injured. I can't think of the last time we enjoyed such comfort.
ryanmartis Ryan Martis @DarrenArsenal1 @OleGunner News coming in Ramsey could be up for the Reserves Match against Wolverhampton
That's still a good 4 weeks away.
Shucks! I thought he would start in the Carling Cup quarter final on Nov 30th/ Dec 1st. If that information is correct he might just be a little short.
Probably just based on this Goal.com article.
I wouldn't have thought either the article or the twitter rumours are based on any insider knowledge.
“We lost Kieran Gibbs last night,” Wenger told TV Online on Thursday afternoon. "That is the bad news. It is a medial knee ligament strain. It needs to be checked on the scan tomorrow but it will be a few weeks. We have nobody else back from Manchester City. Van Persie and Vermaelen are still out. Ramsey and Almunia are not ready. So it should be a similar squad to the one that played at Man City. But Van Persie and Ramsey are very close to coming back to full training now. They should be back in the group at the end of next week. Of course we should not set the same [recovery] time to Ramsey as Van Persie. Aaron will need a longer period to be completely match-fit for the first team. But Van Persie is not far away now. Manuel Almunia is maybe one to two weeks away. With Vermaelen, it is difficult to set a fixed time because his achilles improves slowly.”

Ugh - that's depressing reading Pepe.
Will we see Vermaelen before the new year? The lack of updates on his fitness is concerning.
I think its because Wenger himself don't know when he will recover. His injury is a weird one, like the Rosicky one in the past.
Well Andy, like i've said, if you believe the rumours, we won't be seeing him til February time.
Sounds like Song...
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=837962&sec=england&cc=5901
Song, who suffered a shin injury during the closing stages against West Ham and will be assessed ahead of the Gunners' Champions League trip to Shakhtar Donetsk, started out life as a centre-back, but endured a difficult spell when first trying to break into the Arsenal team in 2006.
And Cesc...

Wenger has revealed that the Spanish midfielder was struggling with a hamstring strain at half-time and that he was considering taking him off. However, Fabregas ran off the knock and should be fit for the UEFA Champions League trip to Ukraine in midweek. "Cesc played a bit within himself. He had a bit of tension in his hamstring. Let's hope he has no setback," Wenger said. "At half-time, I had a hesitation to take him off. "Then I left him on, I thought 'just for 10 or 15 minutes', but in the end he got better and better."

Both kicked up knocks at West Ham. Thankfully they both sounds very minor and shouldn't even keep them out Wednesday.

😆 Bizarre choice of padding text for the sportswriter there. He put all the real news in a subordinate clause. Word count ahoy.
hah nice observation there BW. sportswriters in general seem to be idiots with poor grammar and spelling. there are misspelled headlines all the time on soccernet.
does this thread need to be stickied? i'd rather it be treated like a normal thread, as i don't see why this topic is more important than the upcoming match or whatever other threads are active.
van Marwijk names van Persie in Holland squad
Wenger On Robin van Persie’s fitness… "He has not played with us, not trained and I am quite surprise that he was named [in the Dutch squad]."
I don't like how van Marwijk is turning into Domenech. The sooner Robin quits the national team and focuses on saving his playing career the better.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/-i-don-t-know-how-long-diaby-will-be-out-
The sheer number of very talented players we have whose careers have been stymied because of injuries is incredible and Diaby is one of them.
I'm sure there have been a few cases but I'm struggling to come up with any players who have come back stronger from such malicious injuries. Anyone remember any names?
Larsson and Cisse did well after their leg breaks.
