Rumours of Affelay.

I find him so underwhelming. I'd rather go for Ben Arfa.

Affelay with regular football could be every bit as good as Ben Arfa and would cost a fraction of the price. Last season most people would've stuck their nose up at Ben Arfa but with regular first team football and a manager that supports him he's changed everyones opinion on him. Affelay could well go down the same route.

that's how I think it could go down, affelay gives me Arteta vibes, solid pro who would perform week in week out ocassionally performing magic. And I think he would help podolski and cazorla in sharing the attacking burden. And his available and within budget, Ben arfa wud cost too much and I can't see him pushing for a deal.

Considering the date things are still waaaaay too quiet as regards good (actually sound as if they may be true) rumours.

I think we're done in the market.

Wenger doesn't like to make late signings (wants the transfer window shut before the season starts) unless he absolutely has to.

We're not done in the market, though what we're going to do between now and Friday is not very clear.

If it all descends into last minute panic again I'd send Arshavin to Fulham and take Dempsey.
Pack Chamakh and Bendtner off to wherever will take them and then sign Rangel.

I meant transfers in, obviously a lot of the deadwood will go or should go.

But there hasn't been a credible link to anyone.

I think we'll see a lot of Arteta, Benayoun and Santos signings, not of that quality but out the blue that no one saw coming, not even afcamden

What makes you so sure on Rangel?

Would be a decent enough option.

asa: Nothing particular to be honest. It just strikes me as a very plausible rumour. I remember reading a story early on in the summer saying that Arsenal considered a bid. In the last few days the rumour has emerged again. He seems to tick a lot of boxes from the club's perspective. Decent option, wouldn't cost too much, too old to get in Jenkinson's way for more than a few seasons...

Yeah, Rangel sounds like a very sensible option. Doubt we're in for him though.

Honestly, if teams above us are going to start picking off our best players we need to do the same to those below us.

if we're desperate and it's the last day of the transfer window, i wouldn't mind bringing in dempsey. not a world beater, but a proven goalscorer and could do a good job up front.

would however prefer a more versatile, creative forward. no idea who that would be though. isco? munain? jovetic? honda? banega (not a forward/attacking midfielder, but gives us more creativity)?
