I think he operates on a very high technical level. Knows how to play quick-passing football too. He was practically the only one in Holland who understood Robin's movement. I haven't seen a lot of him outside Spain but I assume those are the reasons Barcelona went for him in the first place.

Watched him a bit here and there in Holland, and I was never once blown away by him. Don't think he is as technically gifted as he gets credit for. He'd do well for Newcastle or Spurs, but he wouldn't make a real difference here in my opinion.

We need someone to really make a difference.

We're not going to sign a player like that with a week left of the transfer window though. I'm amazed we even managed to get Cazorla. I never counted on it. That level of talent usually goes for very high transfer fees and has wage demands we're unlikely to meet. And they're courted by other clubs who can afford it with ease. Look at Hazard for reference.

What's the point of signing someone who is no better than what we have though? Sure, he's a different type of wide player to Gervinho/Walcott, but I'd rather shunt the team around and play Chamberlain/Cazorla there to get that type of player wide than sign another so-so player.

I haven't said that we should sign Afellay. I said I liked him. 🙂

I see the sense in bringing in someone with his skillset though. We really lack depth in that department. Apart from Chamberlain and Cazorla we have no one. There's Wilshere maybe, but he's still out.

Wenger saying that playing three "strikers" up top may not be the way to go for us, and him letting on that he's looking to boost our creativity whilst not wanting to buy average players bodes well

If not gotze it'll be someone like navas, afellay, belhanda, or jovetic

Affelay or Ben arfa, whichever one but we need to buy a wide player. Affelay would probably be most likely.

Affelay reminds me of nasri to an extent, i know its not a popular opinion but i think he would have a great season here if he were to come.

I don't want Ben Arfa or Affelay. Good players but not good enough. We need a class higher, in my opinion.

I would take Ben Arfa definately. We need a wide player who can beat a man AND provide good delivery. I was watching that Sterling for Liverpool and thinking how people like Giroud and Podolski would be so much more dangerous with a winger like that in the team.
