Use Walcott as a striker. Sell Gervinho if he can't adapt to a new role. I think he can play both as a striker and a midfielder without much fuss though.
I don't think we'll scrap the wingers either but I'm starting to feel that they're redundant. Our setup this season has made us less fluid and more predictable. Irrespective of which formation we play we seem to either lack creative wide players (to make a 4-3-3 work) or a playmaker to shift into a 4-2-3-1. Most of our gameplan during the early months of the season was to rely on the opponents to double up on Gervinho and leaving more space for us to exploit centrally. We need more creativity in the final third.
I wouldn't sell Gervs, it's a squad game and buying another winger and selling Gervinho would basically be us standing still.
This is Arsenal, we could sign Kagawa who then gets injured in his first game.
I just think width is so important in the premiership, when we get forced inside and have to play a narrow game we do horribly, when our wingers are on form we as a team are on form. We have almost zero creativity through the middle so anything we need to create has to come from Robin or the wings. Good wing play such as ours (at times), Man utd and spurs (hate to say it) can really stretch teams and result in goals.
The only top team who in my view don't play with traditional wingers would be Chelsea. Mata is a second striker/AM while Malouda who is the only Chelsea player I would really class as a winger doesn't start.
If we want to do away with wingers we would need to sign some creative midfielders and fast.
