Yup. I imagine a front 4 of Kagawa, Podolski, Wilshere and RVP would have the wherewithal to be quite interchangeable. Podolski could come up, make Robin drop back while the other two move out wide, for example. I've seen Kagawa be equally effective down the middle or out wide.

Seriously, we can get Kagawa + Podolski for 30m pounds, and recover some monies by selling Chamakh, Prince Niklas and Vela. That would be a net 20m pounds for a beeeg improvement in the frontline.

Use Walcott as a striker. Sell Gervinho if he can't adapt to a new role. I think he can play both as a striker and a midfielder without much fuss though.

I don't think we'll scrap the wingers either but I'm starting to feel that they're redundant. Our setup this season has made us less fluid and more predictable. Irrespective of which formation we play we seem to either lack creative wide players (to make a 4-3-3 work) or a playmaker to shift into a 4-2-3-1. Most of our gameplan during the early months of the season was to rely on the opponents to double up on Gervinho and leaving more space for us to exploit centrally. We need more creativity in the final third.

Walcott and Gervinho would be relegated to their rightful place - as 70th minute subs for big games when the others are healthy.
I'm putting money on Kagawa ending up playing behind Rooney though. We'll be caught napping as usual. WWIGD?

United won't sign him, they've got enough strikers and wingers, even if Berbatov leaves.

Why they won't sign a proper central midfielder is beyond me.

You'd expect United to be all over Martinez and/or M'Vila but I think Ferguson is obsessed with bypassing the midfield and getting the ball as quickly as possible to capable forwards.

If you look at our team, the ball spends too much time doing sweet FA in midfield. Just going back and forth without opening spaces or tiring the opposition.

If that were the case, he would not have brought Scholes back and nor would their form have picked up so obviously since he returned. They need someone to keep the tempo in that side.

I don't think they need M'Vila or Martinez.

I think United are fine as far as holding players go. Carrick has to be one of the most underrated players in the world. He's had another outstanding season this year and people still don't seem to rate him much. I wonder why that is. For a few years even United fans couldn't decide whether he was brilliant or just plain average. Reminded me of how people used to talk about Gilberto at Arsenal prior to the -06 season.

Kagawa would be brilliant. He isn't a winger at all though, so all of those putting him out wide need to shift him back centrally.

Nothing wrong with our formation either. I don't like Klaus' diamond 442, as we will be killed by the wide play of half this league.

United are fine in the sense that they get enough points anyways, but they are certainly lacking in quality at CM. Only Carrick-Scholes, everyone else is a square peg for a round hole (Park/Giggs/Jones), or just rubbish (Anderson).
