Are we sure about that? I'm pretty sure that while many would advocate for Arteta starting games. Arteta was bought to be the fourth man in midfield. i.e. if Wenger had his way he'd start Rambo, Wilshere and Song every match.

Someone is always injured anyway 😉 , but last year Wenger rotated the midfield a bit when everyone was fit, so he would probably do the same.

Wenger pretty much said that he liked what he saw from Jack and Aaron together in pre-season. Had Jack not had that long term injury then there is no doubt at all that we would NOT have bought Arteta.

We were lucky in a sense that Jack had his verdict while the transfer window was still open. I shudder even thinking about where we would have been had Jack got injured on September 1st.

For what it's woth I liked the look of the Wilsongsey (sorry) midfield last season, when they played against ManUre.
I just don't know how far this midfield three is developed already, to have some sort of "immidiate" impact.

I'd not drop Arteta to be honest, he's become too vital for us in midfield.
Another question is whether Song goes out for Jack (can't see that happening) or Ramsey (more likely, although it remains to be seen who'll be put in the AM role then).

Can see Jack establishing himself as AM when he comes back, he's perfect fit for the role, just needs to add goals to his game which will definitly come ala cesc... Arteta might have been bought in as sub but he has definitely forced his way into the starting line up.

Just needs to add goals to his game but that will come?
I never really saw any indication thay scoring goals would come easily to Jack.
It's the one area of his game that was well below par.

Aaron Ramsey is much better than Wilshere IMO at getting himself into goalscoring positions. I´d be willing to bet that Ramsey will have a better scoring average than Jack when they are both done at the club.

Wilshere's goal scoring record while growing up is impressive, he scored 13 goals in 18 games as a 15 year old in the reserves. Even in previous years, whenever he played isolated games in the Carling cup or the Emirates cup I thought he was a goal threat.

Plus his technique is solid and his composure is excellent, he'll pick it up in time. Just like Fabregas, I suspect last season he was deliberately asked to keep things simple which is why he wasn't in the box more.

I remember Jack being involved in some woeful misses last season, I suppose that's what's colouring my view.

I don't buy that it's just a matter of course that he'll be just like Fabregas on that front.
I hope he can be but it's not mapped out.

Of course he has the ability. He does NOT have the same knack as Ramsey has though for getting himself into goalscoring positions. This can´t really be taught. Lampard has it, Ramsey has it - Jack not so much.

Well he scored 1 in 35 games last season so I would hope his tally will rise 🙂
And yes I know he played a deeper role - I suppose what throws me is that when he did have shots on goal or got himself in goalscoring positions he didn't finish his chances.

His ability to score goals at this level will only be painfully obvious when he starts doing so.

Get the feeling Jack will score amazing goals but Aaron will score more.
