If he's not a whipping boy then how do you explain why one of the most active thread post QPR and Wigan defeats has been this one?
People aren't happy unless something's wrong with our three man midfield. Arteta's an irreproachable professional and Song's one of the best midfielders around, so the third man's the specimen under the microscope for now.
When it was Fabregas, Song and Diaby out there, everyone shat on Diaby from a great height as well.
Probably the difference in Ramsey's case is that he has hordes of defenders who resist when he's subjected to crazy bilious nonsense.
The mechanics of our midfield aren't easily coded into metaphors about 'roles' that comfort armchair analysts, cf the constant low-level stream of bullshit about Alex Song. However, we do tend to dominate matches through the midfield, just as we did against City recently when Rosicky was the third man.
Ramsey's going through a period of indifferent form that probably has a lot to do with a lack of endurance and experience. The positives are that he's not injured and he doesn't have his head down too far. When he wasted that golden chance the other day we got a sight of what he feels he needs to do to win back the fans. Must've been crushing to fuck that one up so badly.
He would not be starting if we didn't have injury troubles, so I feel his situation's very similar to Djourou's. Both are not first XI with everyone fit, both have shown plenty of potential in the past, and both now have questions raised about quality and mentality. But for some reason we've got fans treating a 21 year old Ramsey like he should have the head and shoulders of a 30 year old.
Well, Ramsey should be doing better but he's not the reason for our defensive lapses or the weak forwards on our bench.
