Now I know it's not cool to moan about Rambo, and I've been given a slapped wrist week after week for calling him a dud in match threads following his continually dire displays, but I'm sorry, he's definitely a dud.

He's like an invert Denilson. He works hard but that's it. I'd honestly rather we played denilson as our attacking midfielder with reduced defensive responsibility and that says an awful lot.

I keep hearing about his great ability, well then let's see please. All I see is a lad who holds onto the ball too long and gives sloppy passes all over the pitch.

Squad player at best. We'd get more from Diaby in his role.

Open your eyes then you'll see. I agree he hasn't been very good but the potential is there. He has good ideas and his brain works. In a few months this discussion will be over.

let's hope cos it's been more than a few months for which ive been thoroughly underwhelmed. lets hope your prediction doesnt go the same way as senderos and reyes gurgs

He needs people to be making the right runs off him. I know he's not playing well atm, but the bottom line is he would never have played as much this season had Wilshere not been injured.

I agree, he's been underwhelming. It's classic Wenger really, you see a bit of potential and suddenly you're at the heart of the team. Remember how we barely won away from home when Fabregas broke through?

But there's a good player in there somewhere, he's just been thrown into the deep end with other players in a similar position. Last season when he returned he was in and out of the side and put in a super performance vs Man Utd. Given that he's barely been rested and he's spent 12 months on the sidelines, I'm more worried about him getting injured. I still feel the fault is with the attack as a whole, than each individual.

Those guys didn't have his attitude, though Reyes probably has more talent.

But he doesn't have the types of players that make those types of intelligent runs, so surely he should look for the type of runs that are available to him to him week in/week out.

And When Wilshere was getting too much game time, he lifted the entire midfield to his level, not dragged it down a couple notches*.

I'm not saying Ramsey is the only problem. Just that the excuse culture around the club makes it too easy for players like Ramsey to hide and not take responsibility . If Rambo's game isn't working, by the hour mark, he should be reverting to the basics and doing it ugly.

Quality player who is not ready to play the role asked of him. He's still at a stage where he should be an alternative to Arteta, and not our forward-most starting CM. He just doesn't have the eye for the killer pass or the ability to take on 2 players and get a shot off just yet. The other fundamentals are there though and he works hard. Unlike Theo, he has a bright future, but his present is part of why we find ourselves midtable.

The problem with Ramsey is that he's always got his eye on that killer pass and can't put that the concept of that pass in the context of our game.

I'm more excited about Ramsey right now than I have been at any point since he got injured. He's almost back to where he was physically, that's only happened very recently, and he looks a completely different player for it. It's a matter of time before he shows the ability he has.

Another thing that I find encouraging is how well his body has coped with his comeback. I can barely remember a niggling injury he's had since he made his first appearance after his comeback, and that bodes very well for the future. Add that to his ridiculously impressive stamina, and I reckon we could have a 50 game a season, every season player (ala Lampard). It's no good having great ability, but only being physically capable of 30 games a season (Cesc and his hamstring problems spring to mind).

Just trust Dules, you'll love him again soon. And I fully agree he has looked slow, weak, awkward, sloppy and even a little stupid at times during the course of this season (Spurs away was an absolute horror show, and there were others)), but just remember it's amazing what a lack of confidence will do to you, and when you also consider that he has just not been able to do what he could before from a physical standpoint (and the effect that has further had on his confidence) - you realise how tough it's been for him. I'm telling you he has gone back up to where he was pre-injury physically, I have been watching like a hawk for it for a while now, and I always expected (hoped) that Christmas was about when he'd really get back to where he was. He'll go from strength to strength now. Just wait and see.

The weight of expectation re: Ramsey is a problem. And I don’t mean just from the fans perspective too. He is, essentially, being asked by the manager to do the same job as Cesc did for this team. And what Cesc did was carry it, game after game, he was the difference. Not once did he try to do it in his first full season back from a horrendous broken leg either. There’s a fine player in Aaron Ramsey but at the moment he’s weighed down by the lack of quality/effort around him and could probably do with a rest.

What in regards to Ramsey's performances have you cumming in your pants? The stats appear to suggest anything other than what you're asking us to believe in based on a hope and a prayer of potential.

35 tackles (1.8 per game)
19 interceptions (1 per game)
4 clearences (0.2 per game)
blocked shots 2 (0.1 per game)

One of our three midfielders, one of the three players primarily charged with the role that is supposed to dictate the pace of the game, not to mention provide composure and tactical nuance preventing a free-for-all on our defense and goal.

I think General Mirth has put it best. Underwhelming, so far, but still showing regular glimpses of genuine talent.

Thing is, that's a VERY familiar story these days, and the main question is over whether he will develop enough.

Ramsey is becoming the new Diaby and it saddens me as I actually had hopes for the Welshman.

Someone said that he needs better players around him. I'd argue that great players make average players look better than they are.

Saber, Ramsey isn't a great player and he's also someone who has missed out on a lot of developmental time with a bad injury. Give him time. He'll be better than Arteta, but probably won't be a midfield god.

Oh please!... with this give him time stuff like he's just stepped off an gurney this Christmas. He's had time and he's failing to do the basics correctly. On top of that we've got Wenger throwing the likes of Benayoun match time in central midfield and holding out the miraculous return of three starts Diaby.

We went from being habitually pillaged by Europe's trophy winning elites to being not being able to shift the signings that us fans are supposed to respect as they habitually fuck up. Our inability to shift the likes of Squillaci, Almunia et al only goes to underline the joke that we've become and yet we're supposed to be lap it up and applaud in gratitude. I've said for the longest time, when Wenger can shift his sub-par signings then we can start taking him seriously. A youth policy without the balls to cut the dead weight, however polite they are or how much your kids love them is worthless. Players that get in the way of signing quality backup are a hindrance to our ambitions. And in two months time when we need a striker relatively up to speed with the game and we're fucked because we gave Henry all of Park's acclimatisation minutes, we can all applaud Wenger and the mire we're in thanks to sentimentality. Ho-fucking-ray, at least you got to see your love child play under you again.

He's not a dud.
He doesn't yet have the presence of mind or experience to run the game from midfield (if we don't destroy him first, I think in future he will).
Only in Wenger's idiotic Arsenal would anybody expect a novice to orchestrate and run the game in the middle of what constitutes an injury crisis and a slump in form.
He's effectively a promising apprentice who is being asked to step into the masters role without actually having completed any training.
Without Arteta to cover and balance the midfield he seemed really lost yesterday.

I admire that even in the midst of that stinker of a performance he still had a fantastic shot and a brilliant header on goal.
I also respect that he's brave and that he tries to take responsibility - he's just not good enough at the moment to do all that he attempts.
I hope that yesterday won't set him back mentally - it was a pretty demoralising experience, too many more of those and he could fall away.

I'm not sure what it is that can be currently be done to improve the situation, the alternatives available right now for me don't offer a whole lot more.
