It's true!
Look at England. The influence of America is massive here. It's by choice as well.
People don't like "american things". They indulge in big brands and what is popular because they are foolish and easily led. Just so happens that certain 'things' that fall into that category come from america and mostly aren't provided by europe.
British music, for instance, outsells american music by a clear margin here. Nobody drives american cars, american fashion labels are niche etc. and so on.
Personally, I don't care. I like what and who I like and that is all; makes no difference that somebody drew an imaginary division on a map a few hundred years ago.
British music is heavily influenced by American music. Of course British musicians are innovative too but don't be fooled. A lot of popular music is heavily influenced from America.
What is popular, a lot of the time, is American. It's a choice to love it or not. Sure you could be easily led but it's still a choice and even if it isn't, people love American things.
Jeans are American period.
Sure, most people in the world can't afford niche brands, but for us in the West, it's more likely.
Nike, Abercrombie, Levis, Vans, Hilfiger, Quicksilver etc etc.
Films and music are also huge in the world. Look at the world rapping. Hollywood is massive. Actors go there to make it big.
