Liverpool are doing themselves no favours with all of this.
Most other clubs would have taken the ban on the chin and made Suarez write a written apology. Dalglish must still think he's back in the early 20th century

It's terrible and I have felt that, for better or worse, Suarez has been poorly advised from the start. All he needed was a statement to the effect of "I apologise for the incident that took place, I didn't understand that what I said caused offence and I'll gladly take whatever punishment is deemed necessary".
Would have got a nothing ban, two games max. and nobody would accuse him of not just racism but being a racist. Whole thing would have been forgotten within a week.
He admitted that he use the word so I have no idea why Liverpool are fighting this so hard

'Poory advised'?
FFS he's supposedly an adult, a very privileged and highly paid professional sportsman, and employee ambassador and role model for his club, if he doesn't understand this and insists on behaving like a kid calling names in a playground he deserves all the contempt thats coming to him.
I can't wait till he serves his ban to see the reception he's going to get at away grounds- It may drive him out of the PL.
Doesn't matter if he is an adult; the terms of his contract will dictate that Liverpool can reel him in at any given moment. Instead they are making the team wear t-shirts and encouraging his stupidity.
I'm pretty sure the shirts wasn't his idea, Biggus. Or that pathetic press release they published on their official site.
On that note: what will happen with Terry now? He's facing pretty much the same charge but there's stronger evidence against him. Anyone heard anything about it?
Nothing until after the criminal charges have been dealt with.
Klaus wrote:I'm pretty sure the shirts wasn't his idea, Biggus. Or that pathetic press release they published on their official site.
No I didn't say it was and I apologise if I gave that impression, I just think it's cringeworthy wearing a T-shirt in support of yourself.
Klaus, Terry has to appear in court on criminal charges, if he is found guilty he will be fined and then the FA can decide what action they are going to take. A member of the public complained about the matter to the police so it has to be handled by the courts before the FA can get their hands on him.
I bet a lot of Liverpool fans will be shocked. They were convinced the club would go all out and take the FA to court.
That Liverpool statement is incredible.
General Mirth wrote:No hint of an apology here.
Look at Klaus' post at the top of the page, then Suarez's statement. :hat:
Liverpool really have managed this horribly.
The only thing I wish for at the moment is being able to run out again at Anfield and to do what I like most which is playing football.
How are you looking forward to running out at opposition grounds Luis?
You know it's bad when an independent panel finds Evra to be more credible than you.
Look, Suarez is not a racist. I saw the Roots DVD box in his house.
Transcript of Kenny Dalglish's press conference about Luis SuΓ‘rez
It would be funny if he wasn't so full of stupid.
I think it's great that Liverpool have found a manager worthy of their level. I didn't think it would be this easy when they got rid of Benitez, but Dalglish is an even better punchline to the joke they've become. Well done!
Reporter: "Do you regret wearing the T-shirts?"
Dalglish: "You see, if one of you guys were in trouble, would you help him? Would you support him if you knew the truth and you knew it was right? Would you support him?"
Reporter: "But not with T-shirts when he has been found guilty β¦"
Dalglish: "Why not? If they want to show their support for their team-mate, what's wrong with that? It was a fabulous statement to make visually of their support for a guy who is endeared in the dressing room, one of their closest friends in the dressing room, and all of his friends in the dressing room can speak up adequately and perfectly well for him. And I think it is very dangerous and unfortunate that you don't actually know the whole content of what went on at the hearing. I'm not prepared, and I can't say it, but I am just saying it is really unfortunate you never got to hear it. That's all I'm saying."
I love how he says "they want to show their support", trying to distance himself from the players. You wore a shirt too, Kenny! It's already become a bit of an Internet meme in the football community. Could you imagine Wenger doing something like that? Not in a million years. And if he did Arsenal would have fired him for embarrassing them in public like that.
This is my favourite bit:
Dalglish: "There's a lot of things we'd like to say and a lot we could say but we would only get ourselves in trouble. We are not trying to be evasive β¦ well, we are being evasive because we don't like getting ourselves in trouble. But we know what has gone on. We know what is not in the report and that's important for us. So without me getting ourselves in trouble, I think that's it finished."
You can't make shit like that up.
Open and shut case as soon as Saurez admitted to using the word in question.
Suarez wrote:Suarez has said: "I admitted to the commission that I said a word in Spanish once and only once. I told the panel members that I will not use it again on a football pitch in England.
"I never, ever used this word in a derogatory way and if it offends anyone then I want to apologise for that.''
Textbook "unpology". If you found my harmless and certainly not racist use of that word offensive, what are you some gang of politically correct weirdos? Ok, but if you found it offensive, then I'm sorry. Will that do? Ok, I won't say it again, at least not to your faces or on a football pitch.
What a gimp.....even though it looks fake
What the hell?
Liverpool were embroiled in a fresh racism controversy night, after the Oldham Athletic defender Tom Adeyemi alleged that he was racially abused twice by a supporter during an FA Cup tie at Anfield.
Adeyemi was visibly upset by the exchange and it required several team-mates, the Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, and the referee, Neil Swarbrick, to calm him down. He was booked seconds later for a wild foul on the Liverpool substitute John Flanagan.
Witnesses reported seeing two fans wearing Luis SuΓ‘rez T-shirts β similar to those worn by Liverpool players at Wigan last month, after the Uruguayan was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra β confronting Adeyemi. A witness who gave evidence to Liverpool officials and the police said: "I was to the right of the Kop and the No11 turned to walk away after a tackle. I heard a single voice shout, 'You fucking black bastard.' He spun round with shock on his face and started pointing at the crowd, from where the shout had come."
Those freaking T-shirts. What a mess for Liverpool.
That video
Adeyemi told me he was racially abused by Liverpool fans, claims Shrewsbury defender
It's all become a big mess for Liverpool, quite awful.
Come on, calling someone a "fucking black bastard" in Liverpool is all part of the sophisticated Scouse banter. How were those fans supposed to know he'd take it so personally. Just a clear cultural misunderstanding.
Liverpool FC are done for.
They reap what they sow.
The FA report on the matter was thorough, and clear in it's findings, but Liverpool refused to apologise for Suarez's actions or condemn his behaviour.
Now they have encouraged, given voice, cause and T Shirts to racist elements in their fan base.
Too late for them now to undo that damage.
Stay classy Liverpool
just shake hands after and it's all good, that's what i heard.
The UK's improved a lot on that front, but surely it's still common enough to see and hear that a single cunt's shout from the crowd wouldn't send you catatonic?
... and now Downing has been arrested for allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend, according to the Mail.
No N hmm
lol. it's a fake, btw
You have to wonder what Liverpool's fans are thinking at the moment. Evra is a real piece of work, but even the scousers should have enough sense to realise that it's sort of contraproductive to boo a player who's been racially abused. It's mindboggling how much Liverpool have damaged their reputation in the last few months. Neither the supporters or the club people themselves seem to realise it.
I don't think fans of any other side (yes, even ours) would have reacted any differently and I think it'd be ridiculous to suggest otherwise. Found the thread about it on redcafe hilarious.
Other clubs would certainly have handled the situation a lot better for sure, but fans are idiots. And not just at Liverpool FC.
