We always knew he was a poor man's Hleb back in the days when Hleb was awesome for us. But they are so similar players so definitely would be a success playing Wenger kind of football. Don't look a poor man's Hleb now either does he 😆 He and Rosicky are such great squad players to have.

We should have gotten Benayoun instead of Hleb back in the day. He's never been a "poor man's Hleb". He's had the far better career of the two.

I don't think we need to exaggerate with "same players" - there are similarities, but even looking at both in their prime, there are also significant differences. In the bottom line (as many times it is, despite it being less sexy to talk about), the biggest difference is that one is a top professional, and the other is a low life.

If Hleb had even a bit of Yossi's character, he'd have been an awesome player.

They are as similar 2 players are as you can get tbf. The way they dribble, fake players and turns and super similar.

Not very true, Hleb back in those days were as good as one can hope for. Better career wise obviously Benny had it, but better player in his prime was Hleb

Hleb couldn't score to save his life though, and that's why he was never a world class player.

hleb's "prime" was august 2007-feb 2008. not a lengthy glorious period to look back on. i'm sure liverpool or west ham fans can name a glorious 5 month period of yossi's.

nah nasri has more about him. i don't think he'll go on to be a WPOY finalist and have us living in regret that we only got 24-25m for him with one year to go, but he will be an excellent player for city for periods in a season.

I kind of think is cause of how Hleb betrayed us that make people forget about how brilliant he was. It was not only that period even though its the most obviously. He was great in his first season and second season as well.

Fair to say that Yossi overall has been the better player, but Hleb was/is the more gifted imo.

In the same way that people on youtube with freestyle compliations are gifted. I liked Hleb but he never shouldered responsibility or made a difference when it really mattered.

Exactly, it's totally irrelevant who's a better/more gifted player the only thing that matters is who's more effective and there is no discussion there.

Benayoun is absolutely unbelievable

High praise. A little surprised that Benayoun has been so well received by this team mates already.

Brilliant from Arteta. I think it helped him playing a little deeper in Song's absence, slightly more time and space on the ball. Also think that's a factor in Ramsey's struggles, he gets less time on the ball, and it takes time to adapt.

Real quality doesn't need much time to spot and execute a pass, nor does it need time to adapt

But we can really see it ourselves - his attitude is spot on, and if we can see it - they could surely see it much earlier. He's also lucky he got here for this - the VP team, and not the earlier (Nasri, Gallas, etc.) versions. Don't know if that warm reception would have been the case then.
