Me too. That ball's tavelled 30 yards and the tiny deflection it got before it hit his arm didn't change the flight of the ball at all. It might not have been 'deliberate' but I think it's fair to ask why he couldn't have got his arm out of the way.

Barry dived to have Arteta sent off, and Richards dived to try to get Song sent off. That can´t be right though since English lads don´t do that.

On the penalty incident, it displayed a tentativeness in Arsenal that is one of the most frustrating elements to their side. Not directly in the play, but in the manner that they appealed for it - or didn't, as they case was. Aaron Ramsey in particular made little fuss, but a minute or so later was rather politely pointing out to referee Phil Dowd where the ball had struck Richards. His mother may be very proud, but one would like him to have a little more...gumption, perhaps? Assertiveness? One doesn't like to see haranguing of referees, but if everyone else is doing it...

I don't think we need to do it as much as the likes of Chelsea or United but in an instance like that handball we should definitely make a bigger deal of things.

That is a very interesting extract. Fabregas was excellent at that...complaining to the refs and causing a big fuss. Cesc knew exactly how to play the English game. He knew what he could get away with and what he couldn't, and as captain, he was entitled to represent the team's grievances. But Van Persie doesn't appear to be that sort of captain. There was a moment where he stayed down after a challenge and refused to be helped up by the referee but incidents like that aren't common. Characters like Van Persie, Vermaelen, Ramsey are the like the footballers of the previous generations; they just want to get on with it. It works in our favour that little setbacks don't stay in our mind and we have become more resilient. But it can work against us in that we have a less chance of getting decisions. Refereeing standards are very low and they are, quite often, easily influenced by player and crowd reactions.

A ref told me once that he looks for the instant reaction of players, if it is delayed he suspects that it is contrived.

We're a much better team without him and I'd be happy if we didn't mention the slippery little turd again until Arsenal play against him.

I don't understand how I was glorifying him? I just said he was good at getting decisions...which he was. Unless you missed the entire 09/10 season, you'd know this. Cesc used to kick back just as much as he was kicked. Because he was a big name, he knew he had an advantage. Being the referee that sends off Jack Nobody causes less controversy than being the referee that sends off Cesc Fabregas.

And, for the record, I'm glad Cesc is gone too. And I don't want any of these Gotze, Hazard, 'play a couple of seasons and then fuck off to Barca to leave us in transition' players. I want players who have a connection with the club and those that are unlikely to piss off as soon as Barca come calling. Szczesny, Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Oxlade - these are our Gotzes and Hazards and it's up to them to start showing it.
