I hate that stupid argument people throw out like that, "if they'd put their chances away". You could say the exact same thing about us, we had plenty of chances we didn't take, plenty of passes that we didn't play perfectly. Thats football.

We didn't cut through them at will and also didn't miss about 4-5 one-on-ones with their keeper. That's the difference.

He's not yet good enough to play in that key creative attacking midfield role, agreed. He doesn't effect matches enough. But his overall game is sound.

It does my head in when i see our players trying those silly flicks. Especially at a point when we are chasing the game and need to just get the ball upfield and make it stay there to get numbers forward.

ramsey did it today, Arshavin and rosicky keep doing it all the time. Its so annoying.

City shaded it (as they should at home with a much more settled team), but there was never that much in it. The idea of them scoring 5/6 from the game today is a complete joke. A fair return on the chances they created would, perhaps, have been 3. But then we should have had 1 or 2 ourselves.

Koscielny, Vermaelen and Szczesny did well today. I was proud of all three. Perhaps, Koscielny could have covered our right flank better for their goal, but that was his one failing today. I will say that Koscielny is evidence that Arsenal fans, including myself, will change opinions about a player if that player pulls up his socks and puts in a shift. Guys like Ramsey need to step it up, and I'll be similarly enamoured of them.

Ramsey is a good solid player but he's still a year or two off being able to dominate a game against the best sides in the league. The flicks annoy the shit out of me too but apart from that I thought he was good today. The big problem today in attack was Theo (and then Shava) because we need everyone firing on all cylinders in the big games like that and while Gervinho, Ramsey and Robin weren't amazing today they all worked hard and their jobs were so much more difficult because Theo was pulling his weight.

We totally lost the run of ourselves for a ten minute or so period after they scored.
With some smarter finishing they'd have hurt us even more.
We can't afford to lose composure like that, need to iron that out of our game.

Very odd showing from Theo too. Usually he has a spell even in a bad game. In hindsight I'd have left him on instead of adding Shava.

Plenty of fight and courage in that team but we cannot continue to expect Robin to single handedly carry the goalscoring burden.

So Kami's assertion of a fair scoreline being 3-1 is pretty spot on.

And Song proves that too.

The thing about Ramsey is he's 20 and he's already better than Denilson, Diaby, etc ever were. He's going to be a top class player, no doubt about it.

Probably, but goals, injuries, ref decisions etc shape games. City are a better team than we are right now, we all know that, and will beat us more often than we beat them. But we played well enough and were close enough to them so that on another day we could have drawn or even won.

I got his point, but it's misguided. Just because they had some clear chances they missed has no bearing on the opportunities we had and failed to put away. That arshavin pass was only one of many we squandered.

I think we suffered defensively almost exclusively because we had no fullbacks. Put Sagna and Gibbs/Santos in that team today, Vermalen and Koscielny in the middle and they wouldn't have created anything like the same number of chances, in my opinion.

The midfield did okay. Nothing special, but they held their own and passed the ball well enough and were okay without the ball. It was the front three that really lacked quality today. Walcott, Gervinho and van Persie, as an attacking unit, just don't have the same quality as Silva, Balotelli and Aguero - and that was what decided the game.

Everywhere else through the two teams is pretty much evenly matched, but they trump us by a fair distance in attack.

Always been a big Arshavin fan and would be one of, if not the, last to join the anti-brigade. Today finally for the first time I found myself admitting "he really is fucking awful isn't he?"

Gibbs is back for Villa but if we rush him back we'll be back to square one.

Sagna should be back within four weeks, Jenkinson and Santos could be out for a while.
