We've been linked with him in the recent weeks. Don't think we'll sign him but if the Goetze deal falls through (it will) Gourcuff might be the next best thing.

Technically he is brillaint but I don't particularly like how he slows the pace of a game. We need to boost our options upfront, centrally and out wide and i am not sure if he is the best option for us.

I'll pass, i want more goal scorers for our font three before a technical AM

Another Quaresma. Talented player with motivation, attitude issues. No Gourcuff for me.

Would sooner someone like Kagawa in that position, would probably cost more or less the same.

He might help Chamakh find some form. knowhatimsayin'?

Realistically, this is the kind of player we should be in the market for. The likes of Gotze, Hazard, Neymar are only barely plausible.

Anyway, I like him. Think he's a quality footballer who needs a good environment.

Think a transfer out might help him find some form. I prefer this solution!

Just put him down, he's more lame than Andy Carroll.

Yep, I'd much rather have a 25 year old that's been around for a while and is a known quantity over Hazard or Neymar, even if the latter go on to become better players.

Only downside is that he's playmaker and we'll go back to our old style of play.

prefer more mobility and pace in our game. pass on this one

not mobile enough and doesnt defend; i'd take kagawa over him every single time. i can see him doing ok in italy.

I'd probably vomit if we signed Gourcuff, seriously. The last 5-6 years have done a real number on me when it comes to these limp, fiddly, playmaker types. All they seem to do is become blunt, wilted wimps under Wenger's management. Not sure if he's the right guy to lead that sort of player.

Meh, central playmaker really isn't a priority at the moment. If we got him at a knock down price (like sub 10M) then maybe, bot not really pushed at all otherwise tbh

Gourcuff is a great player but he's not right for us. I'm not willing to sacrifice Ramsey for him. He's the kind of player that has to have a team built around him too. He's struggled to fit in everywhere whenever there isn't a playmaking role available for him right behind the striker. I think he'd flop at Arsenal.

I'm willing to give Ramsey and Wilshere time to settle in to the attacking midfield role, but we're gonna need more than Ramsey is currently giving us looking forwards. A lot more.

In addition I happen to think that Gourcuff is one of the most gifted players around. Interms of ability he's easily in the same catagory as a lot of the starlets most Arsenal fans seem desperate for, he's just a bit older and comes with a bit more baggage. But if he settled he'd be an immense signing.

I'd consider taking him on loan in January.
Some time for him to show his worth and no risks for us neither for Lyon if they don't need him anymore anyway.

5 days later

Wenger has ruled out a January move for Gourcuff. Said we won't be in for any midfielders because of players returning from injury, by which I assume he means Wilshere and Diaby.
