😆 What?!
@Flo - I think it is complicated. I was upset reading about what Barcelona players were saying about Cesc all the time, and I can certainly see if Köln supporters are upset with Mertesacker. We often get too emotionally involved IMO. Mertesacker is saying he RESPONDED to text messages initiated by Podolski. He then said he praised the club, the spirit of the team and the city of London. If that is what he feels, and Podolski indeed texted him - what was he to do? I don´t even blame him for answering the question from a reporter, because that is the normal reaction when you have nothing to hide. In retrospect I don´t blame the Barcelona players very much either, though at the time I wanted to punch most of them in the face. Most likely, they were just answering what they were asked by journalists.
The big difference though is what comes from club officials. We have said nothing, and Wenger didn´t want to speak about Podolski at all. When pressed he said that he rated him. With Barcelona it seemed as if everyone employed by that club had something to say each and every day. They also did a lot of their "negotiating" through the press and tried to force both our and Cesc´s hands. That is just plain disrespectful, and I don´t see anything like that from us.
