Still nearly scored an absolutely sensational goal.

Villa's lethal, he's scored 20+ goals every season since he started his career.

In spain. Spain's a piece of piss. Terry frickin venables lorded it there.

No good being a nearly man

Good win for England.
Still chanceless at the EC if they dont improve their attacking play, but this Capellacio tonight worked well tbf.

He's also scored 50 goals for his country if that helps.

No. You're only as good as your last game. Shearer scored shit loads. Wheres he now?

Honestly didn't feel threatened by Spain. They need a striker or messi.

Germany are far better than Spain cos of Gomez

Once Villa retires/declines spain will revert to type-lots of nice football but winning sweet fa.

I think they'll struggle to replace Puyol too. All their 'brilliant' talent coming through is in the middle third. They struck it lucky in a way by producing 2 players who broke the typical Spanish mould in Villa and Puyol, and to a lesser extent Torres.

I agree, Germany have a better chance of winning the Euros.

spain looks a bit arsenal, dont they?

england is going nowhere, though. could hardly pass the ball out of midfield, and too many technically limited players with no awareness.

bent is terrible - you could see the difference when wellbeck came on. he's just ok, but he at least had an idea of what he needed to do.

They looked Fabregas era Arsenal. Particularly when Cesc chose to pass instead of taking a shot on goal himself.
Almost Chamakhesque.

agree, fabregas didn't play very well.

Cesc carries more threat than the rest of the Spanish midfield combined.

You don't think their talent coming through is brilliant, Tim?

Spain are still favourites for me although they aren't as far ahead of Germany as they were 2 years ago. Spain's strikers have dropped a level but then they still retain the ball better than anyone and Germany's defence is still poor.

Don't think so. They pass the ball well but that's where comparisons end. We're a bigger goal threat while Spain are more organised and defend better.

I preferred the Spain '08 team, they were fun to watch.

Aragones Spain team was a fair bit better as well as being more attractive to watch.

Spain played their most attractive football pre-Bosque when they had the Brazilian at DM instead of Buesquets and made better use of Cesc and his directness in combination with Villa and Torres playing as actual strikers.

Barca can play without a real striker because they have Messi and despite the ridiculous talent in their squad it is almost shocking how reliant they are on Messi to make things happen.

I think if Spain went back to basics a bit more, with one DM a couple of creative CMs(two of Xavi, Iniesta, Alonso, Cesc, Silva...etc) and got some direct pace out wide(instead of trying to fit all their playmakers in the team), they'd be far more efficient and exciting IMO.

England beat new Zealand at rugby league. Lap it up clrnc!

By the way, that was a severely weakened England out there today. Rooney would have gone those greaseballs like you wouldnt believe.

Spain are powderpuff.
