We only had Gareth for 45 minutes, and albeit a jaded Gareth Bale. He has been ill and had a knock on his ankle, but he wanted to play.
‘He said he felt fine so that’s why we started him. He had another knock after 30-35 minutes on the same ankle so we had to bring him off. I don’t know if he will be OK.

Media pundity types are still giving Spurs the edge.
In time though they'll all be backtracking (kind of like me recently - I was pretty convinced that this season the worst would happen).

Their three upcoming fixtures in the league are Swansea away, Everton at home and Man City at home. We have Reading at home, Albions away, Norwich and Everton at home. If we are not ahead of them by a couple of points by then...

It's not like you rest your best players in the matches you might lose or drop points. Amazingly the journo then goes on to "prove" this point for Gerrard and Torres at Liverpool, Ronaldo at United and Vieira at Arsenal etc.

Why anyone would use that stat in football just beggars belief. The amount of control you have to do for schedule strength, track record of teams playing each other, home/away, and other players on the field just renders that stat meaningless. But journalists never respected statistics.

Well it's heavily skewed because at the start bale was somewhat of a jinx. Spurs went 20 or 30+ games without winning when he played (or something similar). Also, he has only really kicked up to beast mode in the second half of this season.

There is still no beast mode about Bale FFS! He has had about 6 weeks where he has been very good, but it all looks to peter out now. I'd call it a purple patch more than anything.

I reckon Bale has 'peaked.' We'll see what happens at the business end, but I have a gut feeling that he can't keep up that sort of form for any longer.

Nah, he's a very dangerous player, one of the best attackers in the league. He's hardly as unstoppable as he's been hyped up by the media though. Sooner or later, teams will adjust to his new free role, Spurs will have to start relying on their other attackers and that's where their downfall begins.
