The only bad deal we did with City was the sale of Clichy at that price. We got more than market value for the rest considering talent, contract circumstances etc.

It is always a bad deal when you sell players you want to keep.
You all are absolutely bonkers if you think Gibbs or Santos was better than Clichy last season, and that Gervinho/Arshavin/AOC bettered Nasri.

Nasri and Clichy are still both comfortably better than any of the players mentioned above btw.

Nasri isn't the flop people claim either, if he'd had that season for us we'd have been happy enough. We did get good money for him, especially considering the circumstances.

We were fucked on Clichy though and he'd a pretty good season. Way better than our left backs.

Doesn't take much to be better than our LBs.

I am just not a fan of Santos for some reason, got a touch of the Eboue's about him, happy go lucky-making jokes person who really isn't a good defender and now wenger is thinking about playing him on the left wing.......

Hope we get that Malaga LB.

Personally I'm not convinced that Clichy is much better than Santos. They have very different strengths, but overall they're on about par for me.

I'd rather have Santos. Clichy made so many mistakes and was useless going forward

I think Clichy's been made to look better than he is at City but at at the of day City did get him at a very fair price and he's a player we would have benefited from holding onto in my opinion.

The time was definitely right for Clichy to move on. Sometimes it's just not about exactly how good a player is or how much exactly you get for him - he had gone stale and wasn't much of a player for us any more. Best for both parties that he moved on. And he wasn't all that for City last season, decent, but nothing more.
