Hey Gaz, maybe it's just me, but this idea that a "manager needs time" can be a bit questionable. I keep hearing it in relation to this appointment and it bothers me.
Managers may need time to win trophies starting from a low base, but they don't need time to replicate the results of their sacked/released predecessors with the same squad - shouldn't need more than six months anyway.
If they haven't gotten their ideas across to the players within six months why are they going to work wonders longer term?
AVB was shit at Chelsea - sure, blame it on player power but at the end of the day, he was shit at Chelsea because the one thing a manager has to do is work effectively with the material he's given, players plus cash.
He'll be working with fourth-place-getting Spuds-minus-Modric-plus-cash next season and we'll see how he does. I predict they won't get to fourth again.
