As long as he doesn't play Squillaci and Koscielny at the back we should be alright. I was hoping that he may include Mertesacker for an almost first choice backline.

Yes, if AW stays true to form, it will be Chamakh ahead of Park.

Probably pretty close although just looking at the Shrewsbury and Bolton teams again, maybe a 4-4-2 shape isn't out of the question. Yennaris at right back and Coquelin in midfield instead of Eastmond though.

Clearly my ninja edit wasn't ninja enough; after looking it for about 10 seconds I realised Coquelin over Eastmond is most likely.

Looking at the squad I suspect we'll start with something like this:

Fabianski
Djourou - Squillaci - Vermaelen - Koscielny
Frimpong - Benayoun - Coquelin
Chamberlain - Park - Gervinho

You have to assume that Vermaelen is in the squad because he's going to play. Not sure what to make of the rest of the defence. Koscielny is pretty versatile and fairly two-footed so he might be a good substitute as a left back though. Eastmond can play right back too so Djourou might start centrally if Wenger doesn't want to give Squillaci a game.

If Verm starts, i suspect hel start at LB.

If he has to start, Djourou-kos-verm-miquel would be my personal choice (as per Pepe's post above).

I don't think Miquel can play left back at this level. He looks way too slow.

Maybe, but I've got a feeling he won't. Wenger likes to keep some of the spine in the team intact. In the past it used to be Touré who started in the Carling cup to provide stability and experience. Now it appears to be Vermaelen.

Not too bothered about Miquel, there is going to be a big weakness somewhere and I'd rather it be to the side and probably behind Benayou/Gervinho than anywhere else.

Mancini is livid about the schedule and threatening to change the entire team from the one that started on Sunday. He's threatened to play people who didn't start vs Liverpool. Given Mario's suspension and Tevez's absence, he would have to field:

Hart, Kolarov, Savic, Toure, Zabaletta, de Jong, Hargreaves, Johnson, Assulin, Suarez, Dzeko (or something similar)

I don't see that happening, to be honest. Would be strong in the back but weak in the front due to the afore-mentioned missing bad boys.
