I weigh in on the side of resting at least a few first team players including RVP and Ramsey.
Bench: Santos, Theo, Arteta, Song, Kos, Park
Starters: Gervinho, Per, TV, Yossi, Ox, Chamakh, Fabianski

Why rest Koscielny? He didn't play yesterday, and if we play him at CB where he's best he won't run himself into the ground like he does at RB which requires tons of stamina.

Good point, Nela. I was thinking along the lines of choosing two of the three: TV, Kos, Per. Per and either/or.

We could really do with resting nearly all of the players that have been almost constantly involved in the starting XI recently. So Szczesny, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Santos, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Walcott, Gervinho and van Persie.

How many of those are we going to be able to rest and still get a win? Not as many as we'd all like, probably. But I think in this case the rest is more important than the result.

Yennaris
Djourou
Koscielny
Santos

Frimpong
Coquelin
Diaby

Chamberlain
Park
Benayoun

Kosicelny and Santos are just going to have to suck it up. Even though they could both do with a good weeks rest.

I bet crappy-Chamakhy starts though.

I'd rest Van Persie and Vermaelen given his recent layoffs but aside from that I want a fairly strong side. Just don't think we can afford to get thumped at home at the moment, regardless of what competition it is in, and that team Ricky has suggested absolutely would be.

Arteta and Ramsey looked knackered and well below par during the Fulham game. I'd rest Walcott as well because he's got an injury record that would rival van Persie.

Of the first choice players I'd definitely rest Robin, Arteta and Ramsey completely.
Keep Song, Santos, Vermaelen and Theo on the bench.
Think I'd start Szczesny, Per, Kos, Djourou and Gervinho.

I feel sorry for whoever plays left back. It'll probably be that kid, Miquel. He's not quick and he's a CB by trade.

We're in big trouble in that position if we lose him anytime soon.
Gibbs not due back for at least three weeks I think.

I'd play Santos in this game and, if he really needs a breather, use Vermaelen as cover against Wigan. Kos and Merte centrally and Djourou as right back wouldn't be too bad a compromise.

I think we should keep Szczesny in goal even if it means alienating Fabianski.

I would generally agree with Rickys side, but I would really dread to start Yennaris in such a big match and also Santos who would clearly be knackered. Maybe DJ at RB and Mert central.

Really hopes Park starts. A good game for him to get more match time and gel with our team. Was watching his Marseille match recently and he was really quite intelligent with his movement and idea of passing. Some stuffs didn't come off as well but you can see what he was trying to do. Not to mention our players don't pass to him and he didn't have good understanding with them in certain instances. Still pretty convinced he can be a very good player for us.

Meanwhile I have read some good blogs about our performances vs Fulham and was shocked to see that they generally think Shava had an okay performance before fading off in the 2nd half. Maybe we should rewatch the match.

I'd like to see us persisting with the kids, definitely the Frimster and Coquelin, but also the likes of Miquel if necessary.

We are going to be up against a star-studded lineup regardless, so why not go in with an unknown quantity and avoid exacerbating any harm done to the morale of the first XI by our weekend result.

I couldn't give a toss about the Carling Cup anyway, not until we at least push through ties like this one. Let's go in with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I agree, Burn. I'd like us to win, but I'm not prepared to risk the result against Wigan on Saturday in order to do so. It's that simple.

We need to change the line-up almost completely. Even if a Van Persie or a Song make up a stronger team on paper, they won't be effective if they're tired. And the whole team looked very sluggish against Fulham. We fought hard but struggled to get going or inject energy in the final 1/3. And besides, our second string aren't all kids anyway - there's a healthy mix of experience there. With players like Rosicky, Benayoun, Oxlade, Diaby we are capable of beating any Man City side at home. Need to hand a start to players that have a point to prove. Oxlade Chamberlain should be desperate to impress in order to play himself into contention in league games (particularly to cover for Gervinho's absence). Rosicky, Benayoun and Diaby should all be fighting for CM spots and put Arteta and Ramsey under pressure.

Forgot about Squillaci above, hell probably play. Although Wenger does say he'll change his policy a little, but also says van Persie, Walcott and Ramsey are on the edge:

'I will change my philosophy a little bit. We have a few players on the edge like van Persie, of course, and Walcott, who had a hamstring alert, and Ramsey. We’ll see how we go.'

I've always said that I will play a team that has a chance to qualify,' he added.
'We have to also consider the injuries we have. We have red alerts on a few players and I will pick as strong a team as I can.'

Those three along with Vermaelen and Song are the ones I think will be given a rest.

The team will probably look something like this:

Diaby is questionable, having picked up a "muscle" problem according to Young Guns Blog. He'll have a scan today.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Frimpong and Fabianski in the starting lineup, with Chamakh his first choice striker, and Park on the bench.
Personally, I would like to see more of Yossi and Coquelin.
