Ricky, Aguero wasn't rubbish. Koscielny had him in his pocket. I was immensely impressed with Koscielny. He read the game better than John Terry can ever hope to. That sequence late in the game when he got the interception and then moved over to the left to get the well-timed tackle. Yum. I hope Xabi Alonso is watching and recognizes the value of a quality tackle.

Nah Burnsy we didn't get out with anything, Wenger has cost us another trophy (and probably our best chance for one this season), this game was winnable but he threw it, his substitutions were a joke, how the fuck did that donkey Chamakh finish the game when he couldn't even finish a header a metre out, any decent manager could have won us something over the last 6 years, I can't wait till the turnip pisses off.

Guess you can look at it that way Biggsy. As I said, I find it disheartening that my now routinised response to this sort of loss is to say we did well under the circumstances (which are that our squad is not good enough to challenge strongly for trophies).

It's also disheartening that people are realigning their expectations, dismissing the prospect of a trophy to greet 4th place as some sort of "a massive achievement"......

Agreed, Big. We're in 7th right now in a league that has clearly split into two groups - the haves and the have-nots. We will find it hard to climb to 4th. Getting there would be a tremendous achievement.

I don't think anybody is in the least bit happy that we are in a race for fourth.
I haven't downgraded my ambition for the club but I know that we've been so severely handicapped by our August and September outings that to have any other ambition for our campaign this season would be mad.
It's not a prize to finish fourth it's a necessity, we have to achieve it.

I don't think Wenger threw this game by starting with that eleven, he threw the dice and it nearly paid off, the players gave it everything and were a match for the team that City put out.

There were very few chances for either side - it was ultimately the fast breakaway and fine finishing of Ageuro that undid us at a time when we were just that fraction off our guard.
It was a loss but I don't have that feeling that we were losers.
If anything there's almost a sense of injustice attached to the result.

The performance in this case overshadows the result and it will in no way dampen or crush the spirit of this team.
That's a very important positive to take from this defeat.

I'm happy we're back in the race for 4th, it looked like for a while we were in the race for 6th.
Let's not forget what we should really be in the race for when Turnip fails yet again.

And what else would you call starting Flappy Squillachi Chamakh and Park against the league leaders?
This game was winnable if we wanted to.

You can tell where the pass is going to go, it's obvious, but when Johnson sprints he doesn't and that makes the difference.

He had a decent performance apart from that, but I'm surprised no one seems to have pointed that out.

Djourou was the prime suspect in letting Aguero go but the problem started when two of our players made ridiculous sliding attempts to block an upfield clearance that didn't happen.

They all played well, good enough to win on another day. It was the naivety of one or two other players that cost us.

It was an incredible piece of precision counter attacking football. As Capi says, if the blame lies anywhere it's with the two lads who went to ground on the edge of their box.

I dont actually blame Djourou too much for losing Aguero, think that was just fantastic movement from the little Argie. From Coquelin's POV, I dont think I would have done anything too different tbh. He was the spare man in three and I think initially he doesn't want to drop off too much because he thinks he might have to go close down Dzeko himself, then all the runs are made on his blind side. If anyone was in a position to gamble and read a pass it was Frimpong on Johnson's ball to Agueo, but I wouldn't class that as a mistake really.

Well I wouldn't say played well Coq Pong and Chambo played well, but really my point Capi was, same naivety same cost same excuses, nothing ever changes.

Am I the only one thats bothered by that?

No mate, Wenger's in-game performance pissed me off no end but on the day, the players selected to start the game performed well and were a) unlucky to lose and b) undone by their manager.

This is a competition for our young and reserve players, so yes you will get the same naivety on the pitch. You should accept that although I have a feeling that on this occasion it was a senior player or two that fudged it but I can't be arsed to go into it.

Thought the game was pretty even, in the end their millions came through.

Coquelin and Frimpong were decent. The Ox is the real deal but lacks the stamina to last the full 90 minutes. Kos was magnificent. Surely he has to start ahead of Mertesacker now?

Thought Park, Chamakh and Benayoun were awful. I still can't believe what happened to Chamakh. He seems to have lost all ability to play football.
