Just glad they lost yesterday. Hopefully, they make even more destabilizing changes a la Fabregas. He's so brilliant, probably their 2nd or 3rd best player this season, but there's something about him that wrecks that offense. Can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe he gets in Messi's spaces, pushes Iniesta wide, doesn't press as much as the others to recover the ball.

For me, it was Cuenca yesterday. He broke down so many moves with rubbish, was like a Barca version of Walcott.

i do wonder to what extent Guardiola buys into his own hype too much.
sure, he's been extraordinarily successful these last 3 years, but i am a bit perplexed by some of his attacking choices in the last 2 games.

But at the end of the day Spain probably deserved to win the world cup, and Barcelona deserved to win last year.

I do think tactially and physically Barcelona were pretty pathetic last night. Mascherano, Barca's centre half!, bouncing off Lampard was ridiculous. And they didn't once double up on Chelsea's full backs, just left Alves and Cuenca/Tello to provide the width, with no overlapping runs at all.

And Xavi was crap on the night imo. Dont know if he's knackered after a long season or what, but there was no zip on his passes and no penetration. Was like watching Denilson.

Chelsea preventing Barca from scoring at the Bridge was the key to the outcome of the tie.

Hmm. I don't know, I really don't think the outcome hinged on that.
Chelsea were always likely to catch them on the break - Barca would have needed to score 4 minimum to progress and they were not up to it.
Psychologically Chelsea had them on the rack, they didn't need to win the game and the away goals versus the lack of an away goal was key.
Messi was deflated and lacking confidence when he stepped up to take that penalty too.
