You blokes are meeeeeeental.

The Europa League is a loser´s tournament right from the off. Not good enough to play in the CL? Welcome to the Europa League! You are literally fighting to be the 17th best team in Europe. It´s NOT a major trophy, and I´d easily take the FA Cup over it.

I didn't say it was a major trophy. I said it's bigger than the FA cup.

It's definitely bigger than the FA Cup.

With the way the champions league is going, it looks like its going to be the toughest European cup this year.

Nope it isn't.

If you want to win the champs league you'll have to better barca or real. The best two teams in the world right now

All the best teams had their chance in the CL. Sort of the nature of the competition that good teams get knocked out along the way. Doc, that is such a strange statement to me.

This is why the league > everything else.

I´ll rate the CL higher until we have won it.

ah, actually meant it tongue in cheek  just that nearly all the big team have been poor and are in danger of going out. Ofcourse the CL is on another level to UEFA.

As something to tick off the list, sure.

But as a competition, league > everything else.

The most likely outcome will of course be that neither Arsenal nor Holland will win anything by the end of 2014. I still maintain that, today, the likelihood of a Holland win is higher.

Comparing two random variables over a finite sample set can't absolutely prove anything, that's why I wanted you to make a claim that was actually testable. 🙂

It's like me saying "my coin's more likely to turn up heads than yours" - even if we both flip four times and I always get tails, and you always get heads, my claim could still be true. Could just be a bad day at the office.

Anyway.

Yep.

Premier League, Champions' League, FA Cup, Uefa Cup, Carling Cup in that order for me.

Prem is definitely greater than Champs Lge. I laughed off MF Jones' statement of us being able to fluke the CL, but the thing is, it wasn't an entirely ridiculous assertion. It is indeed a flukeable competition. Liverpool did it, after all. Even ManU's most recent win can be considered a fluke in my opinion, what with it going down to penalties and all that. All cup competitions are flukeable. The league is absolutely NOT.

Fuck knows how Liverpool won that CL with the team they had.

I disagree Flobs.
You can have favourable draws, but the CL is a 2 legged affair and that negates the "off day" like teams have in the FA cup, which is truly the most romantic tournament that we enter.
Luck plays less a part of the recent CL finals as they haven't been settled on penalties, and the teams who win it can fairly claim that they are the best in Europe.

Think we can negate our off day in Milan last week Bigs? 😉

Anyway, 4 of the last 10 CL finals have been decided via pens. Make of that what u will.

Liverfuckingpool made it to two finals in three years.

Oh, fuck Liverpool. You'd all hate to be fans of such a miserable, unsuccessful club, that's run by idiots.
