Arsenal bids in for M'Vila, Hazard, Martin - enquiries made yesterday on Arteta and Fellaini. Sure there are others too, Busy day ahead

I can't believe we've let in come to this. Makes for an exciting day though.

I agree it's not optimal, but compared to some people's expectations getting in a striker, an experienced "name" German central defender, a multicapped Brazilian left back and a solid squad addition in Dempsey or Benayoun, isn't so bad. And that's in addition to the ones we got earlier in the summer.

I really would like to get a great creative midfielder in though.

That is my feeling too.

It's been a shocking summer. And I honestly think if we'd picked up a draw against Liverpool and not got hammered against Man U, we wouldn't even be making any more signings.

Read that was rubbish somewhere on newsnow. Could have been the BBC.

Probably safe to assume that the vast majority of these stories are complete nonsense.
Funny though.

At this stage the only one I think may be true is the M'vila one.

Don't know why that is though.

Central midfield seems to be the obvious choice for a signing given the speculation so far; hard for M'vila until the 11th hour with the other suggestions being back-up options? Most outlets have only mentioned enquiries for others.

I would definitely take Honda though. Can't say I have seen much more than at the world cup but that was enough.

depends on what you mean by "not so bad". it would be better than disastrous, but i would be extremely disappointed to see benayoun, dempsey and gervinho come in and replace cesc and nasri. for me it would really solidify our position as a team that has given up on winning the league...

Miralem Sulejamni being mentioned now.

Anyone seen Ajax play lately?

it looks like these signings are aimed to simply staunch the bleeding, not get us fighting fit again

I hope Wenger is thinking of a change in formation if we get someone like Honda to get the best out of our personnel.

Wenger is a massive Honda fan isn't he?
All I remember about him from the WC were some stupendous free kicks.
An area where we could easily use some specialist skill.

Hondas agent said its not going to happen.

We can't get Honda, it'll kill Citröen!!

It depends how good you think the core of the squad is. Forget Dempsey and Benayoun because they haven't signed; the players who have (so far) are very good signings.

😆 😆

Not a lot of news going about, all gone quiet on the midfielder front.
