I would certainly have Gervinho, Arteta, Mertesacker as the good signings.

Santos I'm not too sure about, if he slots in and makes the LB position his own he could be looked back on in the same bracket as the others.

Park and Ox will offer decent squad options. The latter is exciting, the former will surely mean less of Chamakh.

Benayoun and Jenkinson. Not thrilled about either, but both can do a decent job hopefully, neither cost much financially.

Chelsea signed Lukaku, Mata, Meireles and Romeu. I don't see us getting anywhere near them, unless Villas-Boas turns out to be rubbish.

Yes, it is, but I think the last couple of days have been the first big step in the right direction for a very long while. Some of the players we've signed will probably flop, some will kick on and impress, but we've got a decent squad again, and should be in a good position to continue moving forward now.

Benayoun will be the most important because he provides the creativity and that bit of genius we're missing in the team without fabregas. Arteta doesn't excite me tbh. Looks quite average if i'm honest.

Gervinho for me, which is why it was wrapped up so early, he was one Wenger really wanted and went and got him.

He will have a huge impact i feel, he brings the kind of individual ability we have lacked since Henry even if he can be frustrating.

yes, because i said wenger will magically spend a shitload of money when the window opens back up. all im saying is that under the circumstances of being desperately short with 48 hours to go it was manageable.

we never had a shot at the midfield names everyone wanted this late in the day; no team is going to gut themselves of prize assets with hours left in the window and then have fuck all to show for it. especially when the one carrot we can dangle, champions league football, those other clubs can provide as well.

again, it doesn't excuse the summer, though. not by a long shot.

I'm with Kel on this one. Its sad seeing Arsenal fans all over accepting their fate as a 4th place team. We're turning into a post 80s-early 90s Liverpool.

I don't think anyone is accepting anything; no one is endorsing the window as an overall success. If it were as easy as showing up at someones doorstep and chucking cash in their face then we would probably have had a much different window, but thats not how it works. Given the choice of decent quantity or the pursuit of quality that ends in nothing and leaves us horribly short, as has been the case with Wenger a hell of a lot these last few years, ill take the former. For now.
