I love the terminology on deadline day. Talks renewed can't in the context of time and space be anything more than a new phonecall.

Basically, what happened is that we called and offered an amount, they refused that. On either side someone leaks this to the press.

Meanwhile, our team discusses a new offer, then rings up again after like an hour.

It's the melodrama of deadline day that makes it such a spectacle. It'll be a bank holiday before you know it.

I wonder where Arteta will play. Personally I fancy him in a box to box role with Wilshere playing a little bit more advanced.

Come on, Arteta is a good signing. Not the WOW siging we were hoping for, of course, so slightly disappointing because of that. But he's a lot better than nothing. And a lot better than loads of alternatives.

He's not terrible but the alternatives we could've gone for are 2x better in terms of pretty much everything.

I like Arteta but I'm worried about the shape he's in. I'll say this though: he's much, much better than Rosicky and Diaby. Not sure how I feel about him potentially blocking Ramsey on the other hand, but then again that might not happen.

By the way, what happened with Mertesacker? Has the registration still not gone through? There are no pictures of him in an Arsenal shirt yet.

He will allow us to give Ramsey a breather. Clever signing. He's capable of play the way we like and won't need to adjust to the premiership. Good attitude on the pitch too and in theory will be hungry to prove himself on the biggest stage

Ramsey may be the future, but he really hasn't looked like the present so far this year. Song, Jack and Arteta, with Theo and Gervinho ahead is created.

I can't believe it's a choice between Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun - there's only one winner, obviously - but it should never have come to this.

It's just not good enough. We will have made how much this summer?
