Upgrade on Bendtner? You must be joking.
Park Chu Young

Anything else you guys wants to know? I for one is happy with him, because Wenger won't get anyone better.
We need a second choice not a third choice because Chamakh is fucking useless (excuse my ire).
Even for those that have seen him and/or rate him, how is this in any way acceptable? His record is poor and our striking options will still be far inferior to other top teams. Is he as good as Hernandez/Drogba/Anelka/Balotelli etc?
I admit I am being slightly irrational but only slightly.
he's gonna be Bendtner's replacement, right?
Bendtner is younger, playing in a better league, has a better scoring ratio and has been played more out of position here than in his actual position. Better than Bendtner...
He is around the same level as Bendtner currently tbf, but Bendtner has a higher ceiling if you get what I mean.
Everyone is expecting us to signing a marquee striker but its definitely not going to happen. He can be better than Chamakh easily anyway. His vision is top class.
Wenger is, as usual, taking the piss.

Have you ever seen Park play? If not (and we both know the answer is no) should you not withhold judgement?
I don't know about you, but for me Bendtner has been a pretty big disappointment and shown himself to simply not fit in the team. Hence this buy seems to be an upgrade on Bendtner. We'll have to wait and see.
Curtis wrote:Humble Rex wrote:Are you joking? A 26 year old forward with that ratio of scoring in France is NEVER going to be of much help to us.
No, I'm actually not. I'm waiting with judging a player (who people that actually watch French football says is pretty good) till I've seen him play. But of course, some people will complain about anything other than Benzema/Kaka. What we need is a replacement for Bendtner. This seems to be an upgrade on him.
Not really an upgrade, but can potentially do well in our team. Arsenal plays very intricate football so its always hard to judge how an asian player will do in our team, but if he settles well he will be a big hit. Exceptional shooting and brings people into play well, also likes to hold up the ball.
Don't worry about his goal ratio guys, there are a load of factors why its not that good, but one thing for sure he is not a poacher like Falcao
I'm going back to bed. When I wake up, hopefully this rumor is gone.
Jesus, I thought we'd left the knee-jerkers at Arsenal-Mania.
I'm seriously surprised at the signings you guys were expecting for a spot where we already have Van Persie.
Listen, this is a guy who has played in France since 2008, and let´s not kid ourselves here, the French league is nowhere near as difficult as the EPL. He is not a baby, no he is 26 and a mature player. Of course he could come here and prove to be a revelation, lifting his game to another level. Personally though, I find it more likely that monkeys will start flying out of my ass but hey, that´s just me.
As a striker for us there is absolutely no way, at all, that this guy is going to improve us. End of.
By the way, I don't think I'm alone when I say the reason so many of us are jumping the gun on this one is because now is not the time to go budget in the market. Our squad options are woeful and we need to rectify this asap
the fuck.....

We have just pocketed roughly 60m, lost 2 of our best players. I think it is fair to say that anything other than top quality signings will be underwhelming. This guy is mediocre at best and not at all what we should go for.

Except VP has a well-known injury problem.
Also, look at our 'rivals'. Who do they have in reserve?

If - when the window is closed - we'll only have signed this guy (or other bargain deals) I'll agree with you. In my honest opinion, spending 20-30 million on a striker would be ridiculous when that's obviously not our weakest spot.
Not to mention that I find it ridiculous that you can judge a player you have never watched, whom people that HAVE WATCHED HIM PLAY FOOTBALL actually rate. I mean, we have one such guy in this thread for crying out loud.

robin is a crock. we should someone quality for when he breaks down, and as an option in a 442 along side him.

Yes, Yes. I get what some of you guys are saying. People who expects Benzema will be very disappointed with Park. People who knows Wenger and was expecting the worst would be delighted with this deal. It's all about expectations. Get real, no matter how much Wenger have he will never overspend. It was always likely he was just going to replace Bendtner.
This guy moved to europe when he was 22-23 y/o. He isn't that young anymore but he started footie here late as well
Not to mention this guy is cheap because Monaco got relegated last season (also explaining his goal record). According to Jamie Dalton on twitter (who is usually pretty reliable plus he actually watches French football) Park would be an 8-12 million signing normally.
I also don't agree with the statement that Robin is a "crock". You only have to look up how many matches he's played the last few seasons.
By the way. Let me remind you guys of Freddie. How did that one turn out?

You've arrived in time to keep us all in line then?
It's precisely because he's going to be back-up for injury plagued van Persie that people are jumpy about us signing a relative unknown with zero PL or European experience.
He could be a revelation, he may be great, I haven't got a clue, neither do very many others on here as far as I can tell.
Particularly for a striker that could be seen as an indication that he may not quite set the place on fire?
I don't think it's knee jerking to be skeptical or slightly underwhelmed by this.
People are just happy we're making signings now, fair enough.
I think it's just slightly pathetic that this is what we're rushing to sign as the time winds down.
And I don't apologise, given the money we have at out disposal, for wishing that Wenger would spend it on a player maybe two who have proved themselves at the very highest level and could truly influence, in a consistent way, our chances of success this season.
