Apparently ditched his Lille medical and now flying to London to sign for us.

According to L'Equipe, anyway

With all due respect to him he can't be our replacement for Bendtner, who, by the looks of it was ahead of Chamakh.

We need someone better to replace RvP when he is injured.

Plus it will be funny if the season ends this way, with Bolton and Lille crying hoarse over our behaviour after we have done that all summer ourselves.

-Hand us yer Hazard or we'll make life miserable for you, you puny frogs.

Can probably forget about Hazard if we dick Lille over like this. Hope young's worth it.

What's this about him needing to go to the army in a couple of years?

I'm sure he can just stay in England can't he? I mean, he might be convicted for the non show in Korea, but surely the punishment won't be sufficient to justify extradition?

Bargain bin once again. Not sure what to think of this, perhaps we're trying to use him as a pawn in our desire for Hazard although I've never really believed we'd get the latter.

I know you shouldn't read too much into the fee but given what he's achieved in his career so far and the extremely low price tag, I'm more than a bit sceptical about this guy working out. Ultimately, it feels like cutting off our nose to spite our face once again with regards to financial prudence.

i don't know what to think of this. must be better than chamack though...

1300: BREAKING NEWS
South Korean striker and captain Park Chu-Young, currently at Monaco, is on his way to London to undergo a medical at Arsenal, BBC Sport understands.

Looks decent on youtube but 11 goals last season (albeit for a team that got relegated). Not convincing.

Better be right about this Arsene or you are going to get absolutely raped for being such a cheapskate once again.

By the way, this guy's goal record is on par with Chamakh's which given that includes time in the Korean league is more than a bit worrying. Also has no European Cup experience...

I'll stop there.

I sincerely hope we did not fuck over our chances with Hazard for this dude.

Chamakh looked as though he was a good header of the ball on Youtube...

We aren't getting Hazard anyway. People (on twitter) who watch the French league says he's a decent player, likes to stay in the box, works hard, is good at linking up, quick and has a decent goal return (12 goals for a relegated team is not bad to be frank). I'm worried we're pulling a Squillaici mark II though.

Looks good on the YouTube clips. Physical and lively enough. As others have said though, I hope this isn't wengers idea of adding super quality

Park park wherever you may be,
You eat dogs in your home coun-try
It could be worse, you could be scouse,
Eating rats in your coun-cil house...

I also like the thought of Wenger being so annoyed by the other Park's goalscoring record against us, that he just goes out and gets one himself.

Obviously youtube means next to nothing but it's all I have to go on.

And Chamakh was a good header of the ball to be fair, and I'd seen him a few times in actual games.

Not youtube's fault he turned into a timid mouse after moving here.

"The first player to fly the flag for his country in Ligue 1 was Monaco’s impressive forward Park Chu-Young. At the age of 22, the striker made the move west from FC Seoul in August 2008, scoring his first goal against Lorient in September of the same year. Offering a combination of intelligent running and great vision, complimented with an excellent aerial ability and deadly set-piece skills, Park has brought an intensity and energy that Monaco supporters really appreciate. His three seasons in France have been a great success, leading to increased speculation of a move away from the principality."

One BBC journo on twitter reports that we have not bid for Hazard and that Lille sources claim it's too late for that anyway. And also that Lille are more unhappy with Park than Arsenal.
