Really not convinced on M'Vila. Thought we'd abandoned the idea of signing him. Didn't Rennes suspend him in October for going out clubbing between games? I know we're desperate for a midfield signing of the ball winning type but...
It's caughtoffside. Probably has no truth to it at all.
Probably needs to get out of Rennes, and would give us much needed physical presence. Given his situation, we could probably squeeze Rennes and land him. I would be for this move. Anything bigger than a smurf in midfield would be welcome.
It's optimistic in the extreme thinking M'Vila who, last I heard, was out of favour and not playing much for Rennes is going to make the transition to PL life and be more effective than say Coquelin. He's not going to transform our prospects. Pointless signing at this stage

Are you penicilling him in as somebody who's really going to step in and solidify our midfield straight away? I don't see him doing that, don't see how at the moment he would be of any more use than Coquelin
He's much better than Coquelin.
He would bring discipline and improved protection for the defence and allow us to rest arteta/move cazorla into the front three
He has the potential to be great, my point is that right now he's not very much in favour, has an attitude and has to make the step up from Ligue 1 to PL which to my mind reduces whatever talent advantage he has over Coquelin

We have had alot of success with that sort of player in the past.
Could have signed him in the summer if we really keen - no doubt there are some reservations about him.
Asa won't be happy to see this thread again. 😆
Knowing us though, the main reservation was probably over him costing more than £5m.
For the record, I have no opinion on this guy.
My only worry with mvilla is whether he lacks pace? We don't need a slow lumbering guy. Other than that beggars can't be choosers

It's weird how over the years we've been linked to so many midfielders of this type, mvila, melo, inler, and such like, yet we ain't signed one
I'd take M'vila if we sign two midfielders. Can't really see either scenario happening.
He isn't a particualyly disciplined player.
